Good one about the Tarantino character. Actually, it sounds like Tarantino as he's admitted to having a foot fetish.

Maybe you disagree, but anyone in the MMA world who refers to Magomed Zaynukov as "John Pork" is being disrespectful as pork is considered to be inherently unclean and defiling in Muslim culture. I recently heard Tim Welch call him that in a Youtube video, and I thought "what a goof".

I wish that Corey Anderson had received the same negative fan reception as when Topuria changed his nickname, when he changed his nickname from Beastin' 25/8. I liked that nickname.
I'm not really married to the John Pork thing, but it just worked for the comparison lol

And yeah, fuck a new nick name even more than a corny self assigned nick name.

Red King Rory, Diego the Dream.
I'm definitely forgetting plenty I feel like

Nikita Krylov switched from Al Capone to something else, Krazy horse to felony.....
Fuck, there's a lot. Barnett is the only guy who changed his without much of a noticeable difference in his W/L ratio

I can definitely see Tybura giving Valter a tough fight.
Interesting matchup.

Same! Walker will have to work to get Tybura to the mat and he's a savvy enough grappler himself to surely not fall for an immediate heel-hook? We'll see I guess, I hope Walker wins for new blood sake.

I don't know why, but I loved that nickname - it was so shit, it kinda became appealing to me!

I can't really see the Clean Monster heelhooking Tybura, as he has been these peripheral low-ranked opponents with poor grappling. Tybura is simply much more proven and has had many more fights at a much higher level. Clean Monster lost a UD to Łukasz Brzeski. I'm not sold on the hype. I think Tybura either UDs or TKOs him (catches him on the feet), depending on exactly how outmatched Valter turns out to be.

This is the fight I simply cannot shake off mentally when considering what I think of Walker.

Good fight to see how good Valter is.

Tybura is 40.. damn time flies.

Yup. And if Tybura loses, I think that's the end for him. UFC probably won't fire him, but what momentum he ever had will be completely gone (if it isn't already). I hated on him for years as a boring generic gatekeeping HW, but he grew on me, and then put Hardy away, so I even started rooting for him. . . and now he's looking pretty bad, old, and slow. All that said to get to this: Shame on Tybura if he doesn't know Walker's gameplan and train properly for it. He'll deserve whatever the outcome is.

If Walker heel hooks Tybura he needs to get his own island or made president or something. Tybura might be something but he aint easy to submit.

Walker seems a bit timid with the stand up and has gotten by by snatching subs up quickly using his athleticism. I think Tybura survives the early ground fight forces a dog fight and wins this on volume once Walker gets tired.

You lost me at Tybura lost momentum ...
He's career is going no where win lose or draw and has been that way for years if not his enitre ufc career he was never going to be in a title fight or even a title eliminator. I was a bit shocked they resigned him i thought embarassing english prospect Parkin would see him go unresigned as they got rid of so many gatekeepers at the time idk how many fights they gave him but he probably has that many more ufc fights left.
I hope this fight is an indication of walker believing in himself that he can beat a slowing 40 gatekeeper because after his last fight he made some weak ass call outs so im nurvous to pick him vai heel hook.

I used to think of Tybura as a very consistent gatekeeper. Rugged, capable of fighting a steady 15 minutes, serviceable standup game with a decent kicking game for a HW, and solid offensive grappling skills. However, him getting taken down and insta-subbed by Spivac (his first submission loss ever, mind you) plus getting blitzed by Delija makes me think his age and wear-and-tear is catching up to him. Granted, those two losses sandwiched decent performances where he was able to gatekeep the likes of Parkin and Diniz, finishing the latter in impressive fashion... but still, I don't know if he's the same guy anymore.

Walker is a remarkably limited fighter. Even with his opponents being mostly fat, nonathletic blobs who don't know how to grapple I would've thought someone would figure him out by now (aside from the weird blip against Brzeski). He's not even that good of a wrestler when it comes to his entries, nor is his striking particularly well-developed. The dude just has a knack of creating the exact sort of scrambles he needs to get to that heel hook.

Logically I want to say that Tybura, a seasoned vet who is the far better striker and a decent grappler, should be able to shut Valter down and comfortably out-point him, maybe even TKO him late. But at this stage Tybura is just so slow and lumbering and often finds himself in dangerous spots, especially early in a fight... An athletic dude trying to blitz him to the ground and rip off his knee might actually succeed.
