What are you playing? v.9 (Kefka Edition)

Is a bad launch a death sentence for a new IP?

Steamworld: Build

Eh', it's a city builder. It's a bit too simplistic, though. Not bad to kill a few hours with, and it's very polished, but it won't be remembered by anyone. It's just kinda there. Feels like a "Summer of Arcade" game, if you remember that shit. Very safe. Very basic.

6/10

I need to check some mods which would you recommend
Well I highly suggest looking at Nexus mods site for whatever you're looking for but two of the best game overhaul mods are "Resurrection" and "Long May The Shadows Reflect".

Beat Sons of the Forest. Was dying like crazy trying to figure out all of the systems while playing on normal, so I strated a new game with custom settings, tweaking enemy damage and health. It was definitely easy mode and beat it pretty quick as I didn't get to invested with base building.

Started a fresh run and focusing more on base building and exploring a bunch of the cave systems I missed. Did a normal run thinking I would dominate knowing weapon locations and crafting stuff. Ended the game with tons of ammo because I mostly used a bow for the reusable arrows to conserve resources. I'm still getting my shit pushed in during the early sections. Picked up the pistol and freely unloading all of the ammo, but aim mechanics are pretty sketch and the damage output is low. Went barreling into a cave system guns blazing, and was quickly overrun but the mutants inside. Tried again being more cautious and it still chewed through my armor, resources and health items.

Playing on normal is a lot more fun though since you really have to craft weapons on the fly like explosives and molitovs to deal with the swarms enemies. Playing with the easier custom settings you can just slash your way through pretty easily.

Lords of the Fallen. 200h and rising. In light, we walk.

Going to give Like a Dragon another run on New Game+, when this bloody headache buggers off...

Take it slow and level some of the other jobs...

I bought Crysis Trilogy for Series X via Amazon for $20 because it was still full price on the XBox Marketplace, and I put the disc in expecting to have to download ALOT more (and I don't have wifi) and apparently all three games are on the disc and just have to upload to your SSD.

Big big plus.

Edit - Fired up the first Crysis and its running perfectly on it's 'Performance' mode.

All three games are roughly 15GB so they don't take much room on the SSD, or external SSD.

Only played the first Crysis on my first gaming PC back in 2010 and it pushed it to the brink with all its settings maxed out, at least 60FPS on a 1080P monitor. On SeriesX it seems to run it at 60FPS quite easily at 1440P.

Looking forward to play these great first-person shooters.

Fallout 4

Just wrapping things up. Finally gonna actually beat the campaign. Went with The Brotherhood of Steel this time, and man does shit get evil near the end. So much betrayal. Some neat twists that I didn't see coming, though. It's funny having Curie as a sidekick, as she helps to exterminate the very people that gave her life, for the people that want her kind dead, LOL.

After this, I think I'm gonna give "Rise of The Tomb Raider" another run, now that it's on Gamepass. Only played through it once on last gen, and I remember it being amazing, so hopefully it still is, and the optimal version makes it even better.

Beat AC6 and it was great. Got the Liberator of Rubicon ending. I know there are more endings but not in the mood to replay the game. Maybe later down the road but for now I've moved on. Got 30+ hours out of it which is great for one playthrough.

Started Trials of Mana which has been great so far.

finally running through final fantasy 13. i forgot i even had that game. nearing the end of chapter 11 everythings all opened up for me and shit. shouldnt take me too long to get through that and then finish up doing the rest of the side quests and endgame stuff.

destiny 2 legacy collection + the new expansion were both like 50-60% off on the microsoft store during this cyber week sale thing and i played the shit out of that game on game pass. i dont have a subscription anymore but i did really like that game, well not the story but the gameplay and especially the gunplay, so i bought that shit just for shits and giggles cause i probably won't see the price go that low for all this shit again any time soon

got alot of catching up to do in that one.
Underrated game imo. Came out at a time when games where starting to open up and it was cool to dog on linear games. Now people are having open world fatigue and starting to realize it really wasn’t that bad of a game. If 13 came out a couple years ago it would have been better received.

Well, it finally happened. We agree on something.

Playing Rogue Trader and King Arthur: A Knight's tale

KA is a fun and atmospheric tactical RPG. Very dark and has a surprisingly good story. Lots of little twists to the old myths, and the doom and gloom of the visuals suits it fairly well. Not too innovative, but that is ok with me. Not many games truly are.

Rogue Trader is dope. Just started, but man, I am digging it.

Started Jedi Survivor, and while I enjoy it while I'm playing, I don't look forward to firing it up. It's weird because it plays very similar to the first one and I loved that game. I'm hoping that I'll get more invested as I progress since I'm still in the first area after the intro mission.

I banked some extra vacation time for a long Disney World trip over the summer that we ended up cancelling, so I rolled that extra leave into the holidays so I I have 2 weeks off and plan to burn through some games. Still haven't gotten around to Tears of the Kingdom, and just got Avatar and LotR: Mines of Moria from Gamefly, so lots to choose from.

I wish...

I had the chance to buy it as a kid, but was a tenner out and bought two shit games instead, even though I loved the first disk that came with the Saturn Magazine...

There are so many rare games I skipped out on. Not that one, though. Nope, I actually owned that game...until I traded it in for a few bucks...

Playing Lost Odyssey, owned it for years but thought i'd give it another crack after finding it really boring first time around.

about 10 hours in now and enjoying it a lot more than last time, though still have some qualms.

Ouch, it's worth a bloody fortune now...

If I could get my hands on a new version, I'd still rip the cover off that thing. Those two disks were fantastic gaming experiences, and I was a real dumb shit for not buying the full game when I could...

Rise Of The Tomb Raider

Yep. Still awesome. It just feels so damn good to play, and nails the scope and execution of it's campaign. That said, I think it was just on the bubble of giving you too much to do, in what is essentially a linear cinematic action adventure game. You hit a new area, and there is just so much to get distracted by, that it almost takes you away from the campaign...almost. It hit that sweet spot, and incorporated its light RPG elements just right. "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" on the other hand, pissed all over that line, and it's why few remember it.

You pretty much nailed my opinion on rise and shadow. I liked rise a lot it’s a shame they couldn’t replicate it in shadow.
