Either Streets of Rage 4 and Shredder's Revenge are hard or I just suck at these games. I can't even get past the first level lol.

Beat 'em ups are kind of cheesy by design. They're usually designed around multiplayer too, so maybe try that if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Man I tried to like this game but just couldn't get into it. I even put it on easy mode to try and blast through it and still couldn't make it. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was great though.
honestly, the game is good enough. The story is a little disjointed but the character interaction (at least the core characters) is enough to keep me interested and i feel like the pacing is good with the slow learning of new abilities which keeps combat strategies fresh enough. The plot turns make me want to keep going too. The building of Colony 6 keeps the fetch quests slightly interesting so backtracking and grinding is built in without being monotonous yet. I'm probably 3/4 through the game (in the snow area)...

I forget how far I made it. I think I made it to the section where you learn everything about the big bad and where is from. I don't want to spoil anything but after that point I just stopped.

Is it back to 2D? I hated the original(it was way too punishing and frustrating), but loved ROR2. Did it learn some lessons?
Yes, it is a remake of the original with some lessons learned from 2. It is much more accessible this time around. Ex: you can adjust how much damage you take and how much health you have.

I was always shit at Streets of Rage, especially at the bosses. Never figured them out.

After getting my ass kicked, I finally managed to make some progress. Not only is this game fun, but the soundtrack is dope as fuck. Definitely see myself putting a lot of hours into this.

I'm literally stuck at Chapter 2, because I have to do a hostess mission with a live actor with huge tits, dressed in lingerie, with my missus in the same room as me.

The main story is fine, a little depressing but it's early days. Kiryu has always been something of a sacrificial bull anyway, charging to do the right thing and suffering for it. Aside from the old man and Hanawa, the Daidoji faction are a bunch of pricks. Hoping for a happy ending for Kiryu.

It took them years and many sequels, but pool has finally returned! A lot of the old mini games and arcade games have returned as well, which is nice.

I'm glad that Sotenbori has returned. I thought that it was underused in Like a Dragon.

I like the Akane character and the network. I find that just going to het and getting the side quests makes it less of a chore in finding them in the first place. It also makes the completion list feel a bit more organic.

I like the new agent style, it's blows are fast, like 0's Rush style, but the web thing is stupid. The Yakuza style comes back during the masked man fight in Yokohama, but I took damage when trying to use it, so I switched back to agent for the quick step and quick blows. Yakuza style clears mobs nicely though. Also, the mobs are a lot bigger in this game, which makes fighting more fun.

The game doesn't seem to be that grindy, as I was able to max health and attack within the first few hours of my play through. Cash, which is used to buy upgrades, is easily acquired. Most skills are still locked, however.

Edit: Game is grindy, but the Coliseum fights are a lot of fun and pay well.

Overall, I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm not rushing through the main story, just taking my time. I think I'll be playing this for a while...

Robocop Rogue City is a lot of fun. I spent a few hours on it yesterday. The combat is pretty basic, but satisfying. It nails the feel of being a bullet sponge like Robocop although you still gotta look after yourself a bit. You also have a little open world type gameplay where you stomp around solving side-quests or issuing tickets when you find parking violations. You have a Batman-like gimmick where you have to find and scan clues in order to piece together evidence, and there's a skill tree where you can improve on a lot of abilities. Also a bit of a story going that involves Anne Lewis from the movies as your sidekick. The dialogue can be a little corny but generally it fits in with the style of the movies. Robocop has some funny deadpan lines as you're out walking giving random assholes tickets for graffiti

Finished up with Super Mario Wonder. Got 100% on it, all Seeds, Flower Coins, Flags, Badges, Standees, everything you can do lol.

Haven’t had this much fun with a Mario game in an extremely long time. The art style, music, abilities, controls, everything was so enjoyable. The rhythm aspect was a great incorporation as well. I didn’t have many gripes at all. I think it would have been nice to keep the character’s physics different but I guess the badge system acts like that and allows you play as you’d like with whoever your favorite is. I didn’t try anyone other than Mario as there wasn’t really a point. Yoshis and Nabit don’t take damage so those are obviously more geared towards young kids.

The last secret level was probably one of the hardest platforming levels I’ve played. Took me a hundred lives over two days to finish. It’s a marathon level with only a couple of checkpoints which take some skill to get to. Felt pretty accomplished after. The New Super Mario stuff never appealed to me but I couldn’t stop playing Wonder. Would recommend it to anyone who enjoys 2D platformers.

Dead Space

The remake. Gonna be a bit unpopular here, but I don't like it all that much. Is it just me, or are modern games really messing up the color pallets with their advanced graphics that seem to focus more on realism than anything else? I don't remember having to squint to see shit in the original. This game is too damn dark, and nothing pops. Even after I turned up the brightness, it's still too damn dark, and I have damn good eyesight, so it's not a case of me getting older. I get that the flashlight is supposed to be your lifeline for visuals, but I don't like it. I want to actually see the environment, and the key items within that environment. I only played it for a little bit, and I've skipped over so many items, that I didn't initially see.

On top of that, I don't remember the original being this cheap, with constant enemy spawns behind you. It's so predictable. Long corridor, two or three vents, enemy spawns in front of you, you take care of it, and then the inevitable sneak attack from behind gets you, and then you turn around and deal with them. Over and over again. It's not scary. It's annoying. They also seemed to beef the enemies up, where anything but a limb shot, actually does anything to them, and they all hit like trucks. A swipe here and there, and you're dead on "normal" difficulty. It doesn't ease you in at all, which is somewhat understandable given that it's a remake, but I think they cheap'd out on the design, and just made the spawn points annoying as fuck.

I just played DS2 not too long ago, and it was great from beginning to end. This game just irritated the fuck out of me in its first couple of hours, and hit all my "survival horror" gripes, mainly due to the ridiculously dark environments and cheesy bullshit, that I do not remember being an issue with the original.

The graphics are nice(when you can actually see them), but that's about it. It's still "Dead Space", but in all honesty, I'd rather play the original. This one is just...I don't know. It didn't click.

Maybe it’s your hdr settings? Not sure what tv you have might want to make sure it’s setup correctly.

I don't remember this issue with the game.

I don't remember this issue with the game.

Which one? The darkness? I'm pretty sure it's deliberate(I'm being a bit dramatic in my description), but I just don't like it. I like mood and atmosphere, and I can understand why some games are like that(Doom 3 comes to mind), but I'd rather have a nice clear view of everything. The enemy spawn points were more of an issue, that eventually had me rolling my eyes.

I'm hot and cold with horror games, though, so I might just not have had the patience for it right now.

The Outer Worlds

Giving it another chance, and trying not to compare too heavily with it's influences. Man, this game is ugly as fuck. That said, I'm letting it breathe and trying my damnedest not to get hung up on it's issues. So far, so good. The RPG systems aren't the greatest, but I am taking them for what they are, and trying not to think of what they could be. I've put most stats into dialogue related options, and have had a good first couple of hours with it.

Yeah the darkness. I'm generally not a fan games with the over the shoulder pov like Resident Evil or Callisto Protocol but I really liked the DS remake

Picked up Riders Republic on sale. Damn, what a fun game. Open world extreme sports with plenty of different sports to choose from. The wingsuit is so addicting to fly around in.
