What are you playing? v.9 (Kefka Edition)

Is a bad launch a death sentence for a new IP?

I wishlisted it yesterday. I will buy it because I played the shit outta them as a kid but too much in my backlog rn. I remember there is a HD Remaster of the games on Steam that was released years and years ago which I bought and played but idk it felt kinda bland, hopefully this new version is better
I kind of regret getting it on Epic now. I wonder if I’m able to get a refund.

Konami seriously needs to port Rondo and SoTN to the Switch. How the hell does SoTN get ported to the Android but not the Switch? SNK needs to make a new Metal Slug.

I tried it out for a little bit. It's good. Puzzles seem to be a bit tougher than other games of this ilk, like Limbo and Inside. At in the beginning, anyways.
I haven’t gotten too deep into it, but I’ve really been enjoying the parts I’ve been playing. Definitely something different than what I typically play.

Anyone playing the new Forza yet? Seeing mixed reviews online. Complaints mostly seem to be coming from PC guys.

Apparently the PC port isn't good. I only read that from a headline though so not sure what the issue is or how bad it is.

It's PS exclusive console wise as Sony paid for it to be made and it runs off their PSP emulatorif I remember correctly as it's the PSP versions of the game

Lies of P scratched that Soul-like itch for me, but I'm pretty hyped for the new Lords of the Fallen that releases this week. I liked the first one even though it was lacking.

Yeah, not sure why SoTN isn't on Switch, but Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is on there and its spiritual successor also its lead dev was also Castlevania's lead dev. Check it out.

What was bad about it? I'm also looking forward to the new one. Loving Lies of P right now though. Hopefully I can find some time to finish it in the next few days.

So I've sunk quite a bit of time as of late into Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition. Another game I got on sale that I thought I would get good value out of. It is definitely critically acclaimed, and while I'm enjoying it for the most part, I am not overly enthusiastic about it. I think I'm more than halfway there based on amount of skills I've been able to unlock.

Pros:
+ runs great, excellent graphics, no bugs
+ game's biggest plus is the complexity of the enemies with knocking off pieces of armor, and at times, weapons
+ beautiful mix of landscapes
+ some really fun innovative weapons
+ character upgrades feel pretty meaningful
+ cool boss battles I've found so far, and even some common enemies feel boss-ish
+ level design is pretty cool for some of the more complex side missions, as well as the main missions

Cons:
- similar to Assassin's Creed, tough to give a crap about any of the characters. Too many characters come and go. The side quests, while having variety in terms of techniques and events to complete, largely involve characters you don't care about. And side quests are numerous, so the main quest looses continuity. I feel when it comes to big open world games, Witcher 3 is miles ahead in regards to avoiding this common pitfall
- Biggest gripe --> combat deaths often feel cheap. Kind of like "I can't tell what the hell is going on" kind of deaths more so than anything. Could be because controls are clunky with keyboard/mouse instead of gamepad, but I feel compelled to play KB/M for accuracy of arrows using the mouse
- excessive crafting, so much time spent foraging and crafting. Would prefer it if items and medicine collected was twice the quantity per item picked up
- even with upgraded weapons, feel underpowered and not the least bit a bad ass I want to be at times. The sling bombs would be cool if their power was dialed up a lot. Same with setting traps.
- I am in general not a fan of fighting robots, I like fighting things that bleed. The human enemies in the game are bland, and also stupid over power with like 2 hit kills despite looking super frail
- related to the point above, melee combat is not tight at all and best avoided as much as possible
- collectibles items are very numerously excessive, with long winded stories to read. It's just not interesting enough to get into

I know this game got rave reviews in the 9/10 range, but to me it's more a 7 out of 10. Maybe even a 6.5. I think there's potential my rating goes up by the time all is said and done, especially if I find a way to upgrade the spear.

I just picked up ghost recon:breakpoint it was on sale from steam for like 11 bucks so I gabbed it.

I enjoyed wildlands but it was a little repetitive

Forza Motorsport

Not a big racing game guy, but this is pretty good. I think what separates this franchise from others, is just how easy it is to get into, as their tutorials and explanations on how a car should handle, is second to none. It doesn't aim to kick the shit out of you, like other racing sims do. This eases you in, explains literally everything in a manner that's easy to understand, and makes the game very easy to pick up and play.

It's not exactly for me, but I got no complaints for what it is.

Finally finished up GOW Ragnarok. Quality game.

Got Middle Earth Shadow of War, just wanted to slay some orcs and the nemesis system really intrigued me. Such a genius idea.

I reinstalled GTA Online, but I can't get a password reset for the Social Network and I really can't be arsed to start a new character.

Tempted to take it off and put Flight Simulator back on.

I am still working on Dragons Dogma, in the endgame grind. Keep skipping around to kill whatever I can to get stronger before going back under earth or the Bitterback Isle.

It wasnt the game I was expecting, but I have very much enjoyed my time with it. I dont know that i care enough to grind to kill the DLC enemies but i do want to finish the main quest. If you love games like Witcher or Skyrim i do think you'd enjoy it, it has elements of those while very much being its own thing.

After I finish it (and I think i am at least somewhat close) I think Metro Exodus is next.

Starfield

I'm trying to get into it, but the the occasional crashes and dull as fuck NPC's are making it a struggle. I appreciate the scope of the game, but sometimes less is more. I'm actually annoyed at getting six or seven missions just by walking past NPC's. I'm annoyed at the NPC's in general, telling me their life story every time I brush against one of them. It's distracting. Lots of dialogue is great and all, and again, I can appreciate just how much work went into making every single character in the game having something to say, but it makes me feel like I'm walking into an alley of door to door salesmen. I've never said "Just shut the fuck up" so many times in any other game, and hated simply walking past people in any other game but this one. It's obnoxious being on a mission, and having every single NPC trying to tempt you with another one. It's so hard to stay focused in this game. Not to mention that every conversation I have in the game, is like "Get to the fucking point, already". They just go on and on, and before you know it, you've spent two hours listening to a book on tape.

There is clearly some really good shit hidden in this gigantic game, but everything surrounding it, is so boring.

No rating yet, as I really do want to peel the layers away from this onion, but it's been a struggle so far.

Diablo 3

Ahh', a new season. So fun. Infinitely satisfying. I'll never understand the gripes people had/have with this game, outside of its shitty launch. Interesting at how Blizzard is now updating D4, to make it a bit more like D3.

About to start Redemption Reapers

A bit of a JRPG / Tactical RPG deep cut. As opposed to the anime aesthetic of a lot of JRPG/Tactical RPG's, this one's is pretty grim.
