Watch Dogs, Discussion Thread

I keep hearing mixed messages..

People say it's super fun and cool then some day it's super mediocre and underwhelming and shitty

I was really looking forward to this because I only have dead rising 3 and titanfall for xbone and wanted a new game but nothing comes out for seemingly months after WD.

From anyone that's played, is it worth the money? Games for need to be perfect but I need it to be fun and to keep me busy for a while to make me front 60 bucks

Sounds like it might be worth buying used for $20.

Im about an hour in so far.

The driving sucks but you start to get the hang of it.

I quiet like the stealth options of solving missions.

It's hardly a groundbreaking game so far but decent.

Game seems to be getting a pass from most reviews due to it being fun to play, but the graphics and physics seem to be fucked.

I guess I can do without this one.
so you'd forgo a fun game because of graphics??? :icon_lol:

Well I had it preordered at my gamestop but my car is in the shop. Shout out to digital download day one.

Nah I would not, but I can see why you say that because I made it sound that way. But it was either this or Mario Kart 8 for me, so I had to pick one.

Gonna head over to EB and grab this I think. Physical copy so I can return it later. As someone in IT sec I am just hoping the whole "hacker" trope isn't as ridiculous as it is on TV sometimes.

bought this yesterday, to bad I gotta work so didnt play, hows the game for those who played? Is it good or is GTA V still better? Do the graphics look next gen on the PS4?

About an hour in enjoying it so far, I must admit the driving does suck though

I chose Mario Kart too. Even if I were to get both i know it would have just been 3 days of Watch Dogs and then nothing but Mario Kart as soon as it's out. Easier just to wait on Watch Dogs. Mario Kart is going to be enough for me for a long time.

From Rock, Paper, Shotgun:

Then I remembered. Those things aren’t a game. The game is sloppy controls which cause you to constantly do the wrong thing accidentally with disastrous consequences; is inconsistently interactive world design; is a cover system whereby you get stuck on scenery or it guesses incorrectly where you want to move. The game is insta-fail stealth missions, wave-defense missions, escort missions, missions where what the characters say and what the objective is don’t match up. The game is five crashes to desktop, including two which required me to reboot my machine before it would reload. The game is restrictive objectives which don’t make use of the possibilities provided by the open city or the hacking mechanics, and checkpoint positions that force you to re-watch short cutscenes or re-perform rote actions after every death.

Ouch... not encouraging at all... I've only played like 5 minutes of the "tutorial" yesterday

Sounds like they nerfed the hell out of the PC version.

Overlocking and getting new drivers did the trick for me, running at max settings in the 40fps range. Game looks good, has some great effects and the city is huge, but I don't think I'd call it the best looking game ever.

i5 2500k from 3,3GHz to 4,5GHz
AMD 7950 from 900MHz to 1050MHz (core) and 1250MHz to 1500MHz (memory)

i7 4770k, 770 SLI, 16gig ram and windows 7. unplayable at the moment. game does look pretty good (not the best though). crashes galore and microstutter fest at the moment, will try to look into it more at the weekend.

Game looks fine running on ultra, and I'm getting 60fps solid, but I've got a super weird issue.
The right stick on my DS4 doesn't work right. I can look up, left and right, but not down. It just won't register the input. Except for when I'm aiming my gun, then I can sorta kinda get it to move diagonally down, but only down+left.

Works perfectly fine in other games.
Running a weird fork of the DS4tool and only had about an hour to fuck around with it before work today, will have to check it out more later tonight.

Real fucking strange though.

edit:
uplay edition, not steam.
4770k, 32gb ram, gtx 780, newest whql drivers, running off an ssd.
Can't for the life of me remember what the fork of dstool I'm running atm is called.

I love bringing the blockers up during police chases

Oh, man. I suck at driving. Love the game though! It has a GTA'ish feel to it but I like the Vigilante aspect of it. A solid purchase since I only paid about 25€ in cash and got some pre-order stuff for free without actually pre-ordering.
