Wanderlei Silva gets lifetime ban

Running from random drug-tests is not a good thing.

And he literally ran. :)

I think it is BS to ever ban somebody for life... unless they do something really crazy like punch out a referee. IMHO, the penalty for skipping a drug test should be the same as the penalty for testing positive... nothing more... nothing less.

absolutely retarded, they just showed how much power ufc has over them and how corrupt they really are. I lost respect for this "sport" its a fucking gong show

So you can test positive multiple times and basically get slapped on the wrist. But no show them one time and get a lifetime ban. Nice logic.

Honestly, I think it was more Wands stance against the ufc that got him the life time ban then the actual no show. Its no secret the ufc has huge influence over the commission

If you guys don't understand the logic behind the commission, then you're an idiot. We don't need to hear your unintelligent opinion.

And you're an even bigger idiot if you think the commission is controlled by Dana. Shit sounds so stupid it's funny.

The penalty for running from or refusing to be tested should be more severe. Otherwise there is no reason a fighter should not run if they know they are goin to get caught, but they can still claim they did not cheat.

holy sh*t. Are you guys still crying about this. This is great. Keep it coming, especially from you conspiracy nuts that think Dana runs the NSAC.

It's mind boggling how some just don't get it

Glad to see the clear majority do not agree with the NSAC.

quit the opposite:

running from a test is actually a pretty dumb thing to do when a refused test carries the same penalty as a positive one.

when you run you can't claim anything and get an auto-suspension.

on the other hand there are countless examples of people who got their penalty reduced/avoided penalties completely because of spiked supplements, sample handling, etc.

To be able to claim to be a clean fighter is worth a lot than the reduction of penalties.

they needed to make a statement. and he was made an example off for sure.

Nsac is the epitome of bureaucratic fuckery. Those douches are lucky to draw paychecks.

I do not think it is justice to give any athlete in any sport a lifetime ban as a punishment for violating a rule without first announcing what the punishment will be for a rule violation.

If it is publicized that a lifetime ban will be the punishment for a first violation that is probably too harsh.

I would be in favor of a one year suspension plus fine for a first rule violation and a lifetime ban if they blow their second chance.

A five year suspension would have been the way to go IMO. Running from the tests is worse than failing in my eyes. The lifetime ban was too harsh I agree, but I don't feel bad fom him making his own bed.

Others took the test, showed regret, aplogized and lived on to fight another day. I feel Wandy's actions caused the harshness. He should have failed the test, said sorry, and all this would have probably blown over in a years time.

They really ran him into the ground on this one. They needed to make an example out of someone. Who better than a guy who is on his way out and has a huge name.
