Wanderlei Silva gets lifetime ban

The NSAC is ridiculous.

What exactly is Wanderlei banned from now? the guy retired, he's finished, he quit.

What did they ban him from? life? (yes, I am an idiot and do not know because I don't normally read into this kind of nonsense. I can't stand these SAC kinda people, they get on my nerves, all power trip n shit in my opinion, acting like they're Gods)

I'm guessing he's banned from competing in anything in the United States. Well, so what? he retired, and Wand never seemed to compete in pure BJJ or anything like that anyway, he'll probably just stay at his gym and teach people. Unless that's a problem, too.

NSAC is on a power trip and always has been. They'd probably try to ban Wanderlei or almost any other fighter they have an issue with (no matter how lame the issue is, even if it's something not nearly as serious as what Wand or Chael did) from even being in the gym, teaching, or training as a hobby, etc.

Is this for real?
Wanderlei banned?
Wow gonna read it when I am home.

He knew his fate.

That's why he Retired. Lol.

Who wants a legacy where the NSAC forces you to retire via a Lifetime ban?

....
They're not being ridiculous, its just that Wanderlei jumped the gun and quit instead of being told what we just heard in person by the NSAC. Sort of like Lance Armstrong throwing in the towel instead of being made to look like an idiot by the mounds of evidence in the court room.

And then Dana took them all out for a meal and promised them snow this Christmas

Seems pretty harsh. As far as i know this is his first offense, so it comes off as a bit overboard.

Nick Diaz retired. Did not prevent him from fighting again. That is why they banned him.

I agree, but its still out of hand. If they appeal, do they appeal to the NSAC? If so, whats the point?

I just think this really has something to do with Wands statements on his retirement video.

No. Wand made the video to blame everyone except himself. He knew this was coming

setting examples by singling someone out is always to show power, not to make sense.

it's ridiculous and in these times, also knowing what they did with Floyd, makes them look like cigar smoking snobs who think they're respected, yet people think they're a joke.

How can people agree with the decision? Is it people who just hate Wandy?

I mean, a life time ban for a first offense? Just treat it like a failed drug test. lol at lifetime ban.

Lifetime ban is excessive in my opinion but I'm not going to complain about it when you consider he ran from a drug test. Initially made up a pathetic excuse and then later admitted that he took diuretics. Then before the hearing he retires to save face, releases a video in which he blames everyone but himself. The guy made a mockery of the sport really.

yea, he played his cards horribly, lied and was obviously guilty, but this is just Wand being the commissions fall guy to instill fear into others. a lifetime ban has nothing to do with Wanderlei, it's political bullshit. if he wasn't famous or brought in big money for nevada, he'd get a year max.

As long as they're consistent with their approach from here on I'll have no problems to be honest.

I wouldn't either, but I also can't see lifetime bans being handed out to top fighters in their prime. UFC could get pissed and choose to not go there, NAC knows this, hence they chose a past his prime famous fighter to send a message that running from them doesn't fly.

I agree with the lifetime ban but imo the fine should have been alot bigger.

Wandy has money. Something like 250k would be more appropriate to punish this cheating behavior.

And if you do run .. don't hire a lawyer to fight against it. And then don't make stupid videos blaming everyone else.

If you screw up take responsibility.

So Wanderlei retiring was just him pretending he could quit before he got fired? Funny.
