Attempted murder? Seems a bit much. It looked like the dude barely (and I mean BARELY) grazed Wand and Wand fell like he was kicked in the face by a horse.

dude missed weight too despite being 40 pounds heavier than his opponent lmao. Silva is a thug. What a fucking coward if he press charges.. What if it was Werdum or Wanderlei knocking someone out, they would jusy say "everyone was fighting, it happens"..
I don't have any respect for Silva, he cried the most in his statement for the UFC antitrust money (maybe a lawyer wrote it), but yet he fights after it and cheats, headbutts in a boxing fight. I don't like to see anyone hurt really, but this was karma in a big way.
Thats assault not attempted murder though.I had a feeling Wandy was lawyering up lol.
Silva might have a good case. Popo's son punched a guy in the back of his head, who at the time didn't seem like was posturing up to participate ie mutual combat.
you can´t buy health, all your points are badAttempted murder for punching someone is a bit much.
That too Wanderlei was fighting pretty dirty himself by purposely headbutting his opponent.
Difference is, Wand did it in a fight. It's up to the ref to disqualify him.
Someone from the outside jumping into the ring and knocking out the fighter is still insane.
That being said, let's forget the whole Legal BS. Make them pay for the medical expenses and some damages.
Trying to sue your opponent's son for attempted murder is wild after you were purposely headbutting his dad.
Make a stipulation that Popo's son has to fight Wanderlei in a match down the road. Turn this opportunity into even more money. People will surely watch.
An attempted murder charge? So Wand delivers three illegal headbutts in his boxing fight, was rightfully DQ'd after the third, was then in the middle of a brawl because of his own stupid actions, gets KO'd in the brawl, and that's attempted murder according to his dumbass lawyer?
So the guy who KO'd Wand was meaning to murder Wand?
The TV audience numbers haven't yet been released, but one thing is certain: the fight between Acelino “Popo” Freitas and Wanderlei Silva did absurd numbers in Brazil.![]()
Broadcast live on Rede Globo starting at 11 p.m. local time on Saturday, Spaten Fight Night 2, heavily advertised in recent weeks through a multi-million dollar marketing campaign promoted by the AMBEV brewery (which produces Spaten beer), connected with an audience that MMA doesn't often reach in Brazil. Unfortunately, the fight's outcome — which included a brawl where Silva was knocked unconscious — significantly increased the engagement.
Fabricio Werdum Sent Audio Message to Popo, Anticipating a Fight
The repercussions from the fight were numerous. In the early hours of Saturday morning, Rede Globo published on its website (Ge.Globo.com) that the man who knocked Silva out was Popo’s son, Rafael Freitas. On Sunday morning, Fabricio Werdum released on social media an audio message he had sent to Acelino “Popo” Freitas on Friday, attempting to calm things down. Upon noticing the aggressive behavior of some members of Popo's large entourage at the weigh-ins, Werdum decided to leverage his good relationship with the boxer to try to prevent that behavior from occurring again during the event. Werdum knew a repeat could lead to conflict between the teams.
"Hey, Popó. I'm sending you this message, you know I respect you a lot, a lot, and you know it. I really like you. I'll be brief; you won't see anyone on our team cursing you, because everyone respects you. So, I ask you to talk to your people about not cursing Wanderlei. You guys are champions and you cursing each other is part of the promotion, but your team members cursing Wanderlei is something that may heat up the tempers. Let's keep things cool between the teams. You know that, on both sides, we're all thugs (street brawlers or individuals who don't shy away from trouble). You guys too. So, I ask you in good terms to talk to your people. And it's just between the two of you to stay 100% professional,” Werdum said in the message.
Popó Mocks Werdum In Response, Escalating Tension
In a response, also via audio, the four-time world boxing champion defended his team members, including one of his sons, who was allegedly responsible for calling Wanderlei "Dead Dog.” He claimed that the disrespect had initially come from Wanderlei.
"The disrespect came from Wanderlei Silva yesterday, live on air, calling me ‘chicken.’ That's disrespectful. But relax, brother. You're going to get hit. When you get hit, you get hit. When you get hit in the ring, you get hit. I'm sure that when he loses, you'll lose too. Stay cool, keep to yourself. Go to sleep and dream of defeat," Popó replied.
The boxer’s words were seen as a kind of mockery by the former UFC champion, who nevertheless responded amicably. However, after Saturday's incident, Werdum decided to publicly share this exchange of audio messages, implying that, in his view, Popó and his team may have been considering the possibility of a full-scale brawl in the ring since the eve of the event.
Attempted Murder?
Another character who went viral on Sunday was Claudio Dalledone. Considered one of the most respected criminal lawyers in Brazil, Dalledone is a personal friend and training partner of Silva during his time with Chute Boxe. The lawyer made it clear that he will criminally prosecute Popó's son.

So typical of the new age mentality. Pure garbage, or doesn't matter I'm a piece of shit and started it. You have to take it and that's it. It's absolutely BS. Dude deserves even worse tbh. Silva has been a disrespectful piece of shit for a long time. So no surprise it's him crying foul.Wand took a charging sucker punch with tremendous force to the back of his head while trying to deescalate the situation, maybe because he was fearing for his son. That shot could have easily left him dead or severely impaired.
As for the illegal actions he committed during the fight, they resulted in his disqualification—end of story. There is no justification for what happened afterward. Rafael Freitas, Popo's son and the attacker, should have redirected his rage toward Dida, not Wand.
