Lawyer: Wanderlei Silva Attacker Could Face 'Attempted Murder' After Post-Fight Brawl

An attempted murder charge? So Wand delivers three illegal headbutts in his boxing fight, was rightfully DQ'd after the third, was then in the middle of a brawl because of his own stupid actions, gets KO'd in the brawl, and that's attempted murder according to his dumbass lawyer?

So the guy who KO'd Wand was meaning to murder Wand?

Attempted murder is a bit much, idk how to handle that one.

Wanderlei wasn't great during the fight, I can see where it gets heated. I know the second did the damage but the first punch to the back of his head during the brawl is the egregious one, IMO. Undeniable sucker punch, that one.

Lol, If Wanderlei Silva presses charges in this incident, then i’m led to believe he’s a clone and maybe Bj Penn is right.

That’s some pussy shit, some Colby Covington shit. Even Conor Mcgregor didn’t press chargers when he get assaulted after the Khabib bout.

Wanderlei Silva was on the giving end of countless incidents he and his group of thugs engaged in, and when he’s on the receiving end of one, someone is in his ear to get “attempted murder” pressed?

Chael Sonnen was right about Wanderlei.

It took a month to arrest Raja Jackson, who will not face attempted murder charges for 20 punches on an unconscious wrestler.
They're already talking about attempted murder charges (which I do not agree with to be clear) for a single punch in an in ring brawl in Brazil.

We're going to need an entire new legal framework for combat sports

And that shit should be an attempted murder charge. Had no one pulled Raja off, he would have kept punching and would have killed the guy.
He had no intention of stopping his assault.

Wanderlei headbutting his opponent in boxing three times, getting DQ'd, then a brawl ensues, and he gets KO'd in this brawl is not attempted murder. It's a fucking in ring brawl that Wanderlei created by fouling his opponent multiple times. Punches are flying on both sides.

Does it make sense that the guy could face "attempted murder" chargers for punching someone in a braw initiated by the other person? I mean, its not like Silva was away from the action...He got the wrong end of a deal he initiated.

It's quite possible in Brazil. While in most (if not all) US states you need a clear intention to commit the crime (mens rea), in Brazil you have "eventual intention" (dolo eventual) as a legal doctrine. In other words, even if you didn't had the intention, the justice might consider that you foresaw the possibility of that result and accepted the risk of it happening (I still think that he won't face attempted murder charges, but it's possible, depending on the prosecution lawyers).

Hopefully the dude gets off.

Wand is a loser for trying to headbutt some old boxer. Was good watching him get slept like a bum.

Come on. A single punch landed is definitely not "attempted murder". That's the kind of thing where the initial charge is huge and it gets reduced to a misdemeanor battery. I know someone got knocked out, but this gives off "I feared for my life!" vibes after someone does something really benign.

I don't know anything about Brazilian homicide and assault law, but that sounds dumb.

Also the videos I've seen are unclear. I can hardly see a punch, if at all.

Seems a bit excessive^^

It's Brasil, iz normal

I wasn't aware random defense lawyers could make arrests

Pretty fckn cool that Werdum dropped the dude who stuck Wanderlei.

I had a feeling Wandy was lawyering up lol.

Silva might have a good case. Popo's son punched a guy in the back of his head, who at the time didn't seem like was posturing up to participate ie mutual combat.
