Wanderlei Silva gets lifetime ban

Overeem is another cheater I do not like .. but he did not run from the guy who showed up to get a sample, he left the country to avoid the test, they never saw him in person.
Actually he did literally run away from a test right after a pre-fight press conference, but Dana convinced him to come back and give a sample. He failed that test, served his suspension and is fighting again.

I was going to say poor Wandy but he has really brought this all on himself.

Too harsh. Give him the same penalty as a failed drug test. Heck he saved the commission money for not having to process these tests

What's the logic in banning him for life when if he was caught it would be 6 months to a year suspension

Way to harsh, while I know they need to set a standard, this is unprecedented and unfair.

Yes he ran from a test, but so did Reem twice. Personally I say 2-3 year suspension. Lifetime ban is uncalled for and I have a feeling this has to do with his "retirement" video, just a feeling.

Yeah...he was past his prime before he went to the UFC but he still was dangerous and had big wins here and there.

He was brutally KOed in his last 2 fights in Pride and went 4-4 in his last 8 Pride fights before joining the UFC.

In his last 5 UFC fights though he went 3-2 with 2 Top 10 wins over Bispign and Stann so he actually showed somewhat of a resurgence even though he was clearly passed his prime. Also 3 of his losses very close. The 1st Franklin fight he should have gotten the decision in and then he came as close as you could to KOing him in the rematch but got outpointed overall

Wanderlei's victory pose pose on the ropes when he won a fight in Pride was all to see he was on roids. The nasty neck muscles he had. A jacked up freak when he's beating on Sakuraba and ****. Comes and fights in America and is a regular size old man all a sudden that gets KO'd by Chris Leben, has to retire cause he can't beat Rich Franklin, and had a good fight with Chuck when he had roids streaming through him still. Wanderlei sucks and he always has.

The IOC and IAAF agree with me, avoiding a test isn't worse than a positive test. They validate that position by the suspensions they have handed out for athletes avoiding tests, suspensions are given but they don't exceed what the suspension would be for a positive test.

One grain of common sense should make it clear that an evader should be more heavily punished than a complier.

You run, you're done.

Man, gonna go and get your 06 account banned?

Before even making it to yellow at that.

Sure, it should be more harsh, but for a first offense? I don't think a lifetime ban is warranted just because he skipped out.

Lifetime ban for running from a piss test? Am I missing something here? Thats usually a year tops. Bonnar was actually caught using roids and got just 1 year

It true though. Dude lost to Tito and went and stomped and soccer kicked a few cans in Pride that were served to him, in between beating on Sakuraba. Dosen't mean he's a legend or something.

Maybe not warranted but a statement has been made. You can't run away from a drug test without facing huge consequences.

One year to two year suspension maximum.

Hopefully the UFC cuts him. Wanderlei gets an offer from Inoki or someone in Japan and has a retirement fight over there.

I don't know enough about the situation to vote, but this is a fucking shame for Wandy to go out like this.

Didn't know Rampage, Hendo, Yoshida, Mezger, Kondo and Nakumura were cans.

either trolling or drunk.

A two year ban would have effectively been a lifetime ban for Wand, so they could have gone for a 5 year ban :icon_conf

Wow horrible ruling. There's way worse shit that truly deserves a lifetime ban over this. Be should've gotten a year or two max.

When he fought Rampage and Hendo clean he lost both in pretty brutally. Mezger, Kondo, are nice names but Tito beat them too.

Jesus Christ dude, I'm wouldn't touch this argument with a 10 foot pole.

I agree, but its still out of hand. If they appeal, do they appeal to the NSAC? If so, whats the point?

I just think this really has something to do with Wands statements on his retirement video.
