Elections Wake the F**k Up Dems: Running on Identity Politics Doesn't Work Anymore

i think you underestimate how little leftists give a shit about the border. and kamala brought up how tough she has been, and will be, on the border constantly. clearly it made leftists not want to vote for her.
Leftists don't really vote. There is no point pandering to tankies. Most people are closer to the center. There are some issues like abortion or borders that will cause one person to swing to the other side. You also have a weak candidate vs someone with name recognition.

Her stance on the border was a strict one but she was mute regarding the topic of deportations. Trump's stance was pretty much mass deportations but I don't think he can achieve that. His other points are simple too like end inflation.

I agree immigration is a much larger issue, but if a candidate is all supportive of all the trans kid shit, many people are going to be like hell no to them just for that. It's a dealbreaker for many.
It's just strange how the left latched onto this issue and made such a big deal out of it and honestly I do like the sentiment of making sure that trans people are treated with respect.

But why this issue and why now? Getting preached at about a very fringe issue while child sex trafficking is running rampant? it just blows my mind and seems ridiculous....

There are tons of other issues that are more important. So why did the left grab onto this and just go insane with it as if they're standing on some moral high ground trying to pull everybody up with them?

The first candidate that accurately assesses that the fact that we have so much c********* in this country and says we're going to f****** end ot gets my vote for everything and my full support. That's an issue that actually matters profoundly and it's a real true moral issue we could all stand behind and care about together.

So the right's obsession with trannies isn't identity politics? It's not that they didn't run on identity politics, they were just able to trigger more emotion in the way they did it. Trump's entire campaign was based on identity politics.

I mean a lot of people argue it is the conservatives that are making the trans thing a huge issue. They say conservatives are grifting a small issue into this big thing.

But I disagree. It is BOTH sides making it an issue. The conservatives wouldn't be able to make it an issue if it weren't for the equal pushback on the other side.

So the right's obsession with trannies isn't identity politics? It's not that they didn't run on identity politics, they were just able to trigger more emotion in the way they did it. Trump's entire campaign was based on identity politics.

Is that really identity politics though? They are against specific pro-trans POLICIES like giving kids transition drugs, transwoman in female prisons, etc.

That is different than Trump is racist, misogynist, part of the patriarchy, sexist, etc. That to me is true identity politics.

Well, he has beaten Hillary and now kamala. Maybe people aren’t ready for a female president?
I think lots of people voted for her simply because she's a woman.

I doubt anyone voted for Trump just because they didn't want a woman in office.

this is because their party gives them centrists.

it's not the 1990's anymore. saying basically the same thing as your opponent on a policy young people don't give a shit about is a losing strategy. young people lean left and todays left is more left than the left of 30 years ago. saying shit like "i will close the border" doesn't motivate young people to vote for you.

she's mute on deportations because again, even center-leftists don't like that idea let alone actual leftists. she's trying to placate to moderates without fully scaring off the lefties which meant no one was motivated to vote for her.

The Dem's strategy this campaign: Orange Man Bad. He's racist, misogynist, sexist, transphobic, rapist and every ism under the sun.

They unsuccessfully tried identity politics with Hilary in 2016 and failed. And then they made the same exact mistake this time and failed again. It's like the boy who cried wolf. People just don't believe it.

Proof identity politics failed:

1. Trump flipped the Latino vote, even though the Dems ran hard on Trump being racist against Latinos. Even till the very end with the Puerto Rican joke thing.
2. Black men didn't buy it. Trump had historically large support in historically black Georgia against a black woman LOL. Even with women, less black WOMEN showed up for Kamala than for Biden.
3. Before Trump ever ran for President, he was loved by black people. He was in rap songs, gave money to Al Sharpton, gave money to Dems, the Clintons came to his wedding, etc. It was only after he ran for President did the crazy racism angle was pushed.
4. They weaponized the justice system to accentuate he's guilty of all the isms - BS rape trial to "prove" he's a rapist. Stormy Daniels trial to "prove" he's a misogynist pig.

Turns out people don't give a shit about any isms you try to guilt people with. They care about crime, mass immigration into their cities and their pocketbooks.

Dems need to wake the fuck up. Identity politics doesn't work anymore. The Republicans just won the Senate, House, has a Supreme Court majority AND the popular vote. That's not all because "Orange Man bad and those who support him are a cult." (although there are many cultish Trumptards too)

They need to look in the mirror and admit their faults.

Primary reasons for failure:

1. They never gave a good reason to vote for Kamala. Nor Hilary. The only reason they gave was "I'm not Trump and am a woman."
2. Their only winning issue was abortion. No other issues.
3. They didn't run a likeable candidate. It was already proven people didn't like Kamala (and Hilary) yet they still ran them. Why do this?
4. They tried to gaslight people that crime wasn't rising when we literally saw it with our own eyes. Acknowledge the problem - not deny that it exists. People are not that stupid.
5. Don't run on "Half the country are pieces of shit." That condescending tactic will lose you more votes.

The things they're doing DO NOT WORK. And will continue to not work in the future. Next time they need to run on ACTUAL issues and have a candidate that is likeable. No more identity politics, focus on our pocketbooks and our safety/crime.

But I can almost guarantee all the MSNBC's will be crying racism and misogyny this morning. Basically doubling down the same bullshit that made them lose.
Its been the nature of US(and indeed much of western politics) this millennium I would say, were basically in a system were the nominal "left" have drifted increasingly to the right and become more and more bought out by big business whilst depending almost totally on negative campaigning against the right which becomes even more extreme as the Overton window moves that direction.

We basically live in something close to a managed democracy were by the control of wealthy interests is almost total and when someone who might threaten that like Sanders or Corbyn(and neither of them was an extremist at all, they were genuine compromises) does rise up the entire establishment goes after them, especially the "liberals".

Thats the unfortunately truth, the real enemy of centralist liberials is not actually the right who they look to scare people into voting for them with its genuine progressives, you see that so clearly in France were Macron jumps into bed with the far right before he works with the left.

Just look at were the sold out partisan liberial merry go round has gotten us, Trump is back in again, the Dems are making nice with Dick Cheney and abbeting genocide yet somehow its the fault of progressives for not stepping over the corpses of tens of thousands of palatinsian kids to vote for more of the same with Kamala.

It is exactly identity politics. When every single topic can somehow become about trannies regardless of its importance vs the actual topic then yes. This whole idea that gays, trannies, women are coming to rob you of your masculinity then yes it is. When a a topic that will not impact 99.99999% of the population becomes the main focus then yes it is. I see trannies as simply a wedge issue. It is a topic, but when it becomes THE topic something seems fishy.

To the whole racism thing. Anecdotal evidence alert, but it reminds me of a conversation I had with my cousin who is white is afraid about being impacted by racism. A person who has never been in the vicinity of a minority other than "the help." Whereas I, someone who is white, but grew up mainly around minorities, has zero concern about being hit with racism.

So yeah the right absolutely runs on identity politics. They've just been able to touch the nerves of a larger portion of the population. And just because they triggered the larger population doesn't necessarily mean they are correct, it just means they know what nerves to touch.

Proposing to tax unrealized capital gains was a quick way to piss off a lot of powerful people and interests.

Denying inflation was idiotic. People go to the store every week and can see the prices. Most people don't have econ degrees but they see what's in front of them.

World became a far more dangerous place under Biden. People took notice as well. Instead of Abraham Accords we have two wars which could potentially become larger.

Democrats fucked up majorly in denying Biden's declining health and then the half baked transition. Kamala was not a good choice and the deck was stacked against her due to the timeline. To her credit she largely stayed away from I am a black woman identity politics unlike Hillary however she still had to stand by Biden's polices including the fumbling of the immigration and border. People saw Biden get rid of Trump era immigration border policies only to reinstitute them.

Open primary would have allowed someone like Andy Bashear, Mark Kelly, etc to make their case. They would have had a much broader appeal.

Let's hope for the best.

Overreaching asshole Dems. You fucked with the Amish, and you fucking found out. Raiding the Amish because of organic chicken and unpasteurized milk was a mistake. I only drink real milk. Fuck your government sterilized milk. Fuck you for letting billions of rats roam NYC with diseases, but you murder a famous family rescue squirrel.

Your dumb lady opened the border and is costing 450 billion a year, but you said 4 billion was too much for a wall. My car insurance was insane in CA because of illegals being danger. You force your trans stuff on kids. You obsess about killing the unborn... Even up to 9 months, and some of you want to be able to kill children who survive the attempted killing.

You legalized theft and drug use in the open. You let men beat up women and girls in sports. You let men get naked in front of girls. You force believers to work for people they don't want to.

Long story short. We are sick of your shit. We just wanted to be left alone, but you pushed the boundaries like narcissists always do.

It's not THE topic. Immigration, crime and lower standard of living are THE topics. Every poll says so.

That's not what I'm talking about. The Dems ran on Trump is a racist. They played on that hard.

The far left is far more obsessed with trannies than the right.

Just 10 years ago, the idea of letting a cross-dressing men into girls locker rooms and playing sports with women would be unthinkable.... by both Democrats and Republicans

Stop projecting. Conservatives are reacting to the Left pushing this garbage on the American Public.

I said this before but when did Kamala even bring up identify politics? I don’t remember her ever talking about her ethnicity on the campaign trail.

If that is the case, why do trannies seemingly come up in every single topic. Why when a valid point is made against the right does it become, but trannies. It absolutely amazes the places this topic gets brought up.

Perhaps it is a WR and this place loves chicks with dicks.

And to your second point, right wing media absolutely pushes the narrative that whites are experiencing the worst racism of all. Even if Trump is called a racist, it happens the other way as much if not more. How else would people who would never actually be impacted by racism be concerned about it in any way.

Fact is identity politics are exploited all around because it brings cheap heat.

Because it's one of the most obvious crazy things about the left that people are pissed at. It's so obviously outrageous and crazy that it's easy to point out every time.

Nah, let the Dems live in their fake reality believing everything the media, Hollywood, and social media tell them. That way they'll keep screwing up and letting the grown ups run things for a while.

I was looking for this clip yesterday and this sums up the election imo

(idk why preview text in german it's an impractical jokers clip):
