I actually rewatched it yesterday and, as controversial as it is, thought Volk won the 4th round as well.

Anyone who scored it for Volk is a biased idiot. It was a clear 3-4 round win for Islam. People are just scoring the fight on a curve because Volk exceeded expectations against a depleted Islam.

(In other words, had the sizes been reversed, for sure Volk would have won.)

That said, within the actual 5-round timeframe, Makhachev "beat" Volkanovski ...

PS: I also believe that Volk's resurgence, at the end of the last round, made me believe Volkanovski would have beat Makhachev in a fight with no time-limit.

I love Volk but he didn’t win that fight. It was a bad look for Islam, especially near the end, but he did win based on the scoring criteria.

I thought it could have gone either way and I was rooting for Volk. But he ended up putting in an amazing showing for being the smaller guy and the bigger guy having the killing machine rep.

Not sure about that, but I agree with almost everyone's takeaway after watching that fight : if they were naturally the same size, Volk would win that fight
