Cool off a bit before such a hot take. Head kicks are tough. Short notice fights are tough. Islam is among the best in the sport. Volk is also among the best in the sport.

Topuria was going to beat him even if this fight never happened. It'll be a good fight but Topuria's wrestling and boxing are too good.

Taking this fight was kind of a reckless double-gamble in hindsight.

He basically dissuaded the idea that Islam could hurt him (even though he did it repeatedly in the first fight), thinking he can take this fight without long term consequences.

Now he’s got a huge cut on his eyebrow and just got viciously KO’d 3 months before he has to fight a power puncher like Topuria.

Gotta respect the balls on Volk, he truly thought he could do it. Just wish he had the foresight to realize how reckless a gamble it was, he is really at risk to lose against Topuria now, which means there was more at risk then just losing one fight by taking this on short notice.
 
This has definitely fucked his legacy up. Even if he continues to win, the knowledge of this will haunt his career.
 
Time waits for no man but tonight he just ran into a better fighter. Once punch resistance goes though, it's a steady decline.

This is why boxers never challenge themselves. People are too drawn into the whole undefeated garbage. Dude just took a fight against the champ in the weight class above on 10 days notice. Like anyone ever wouldn't lose this one.

Hats off to Volk for taking a short notice fight against easily the most dangerous fighter he's ever faced. He may be tiny but he'd fit right in with that Rings: king of the kings alpha shit.
 
You're crazy if you believe Volk is finished.

He's gonna come back with a vengeance at featherweight.
