Seriously though I do think it really demonstrates one of the biggest things you need to look for with a progressive politician isnt just claimed platform its credibility, there are a lot of frauds out there who will betray their pledges as soon as there in office and often actually purge genuine progressives.

I think the base appeal is potentially similar, the general anti establishment feeling against the way the economy and foreign policy is run, the difference is as you say MAGA basically shifts these sentiments into various kinds of bigotry and some highly questionable claims to make changes. I would say as well I suspect a lot of Trumps sucess with floating voters was probably as a simple "fuck you", basically picking the candidate the establishment they hate seemed to dislike more.

If they want this BS they can get it from Tulsi without the risk of stroke.

The last time a cross-party ticket was strongly considered was McCain possibly picking Joe Lieberman for 2008, a 'moderate' Democrat who was Al Gore's VP pick in 2000.

The reason it didn't happen is simple... people don't respect the perception of moderates, which both McCain & Lieberman were.

Now Vance is the odds-on-favorite to be the 2028 Nominee, and its doubtful his approval numbers are going to be so low it'd be in his best interests to pick a Democrat to be his VP. It'd be a desperation move, especially when the Republicans have so many noteworthy potential VP picks.

Vivek & Tulsi are two of the top names, very likeable and wellspoken, and they do well in interviews.

Fetterman didn't do so well on his JRE appearance and gave some answers that didn't put the Democrats in a positive light in regards to the border.

So, with respect, that's why I'm saying 'No Chance.'

Moving states is a simple process of filling out paperwork. Vivek could just rent a property in Texas without selling property in Ohio and moving and that'd be enough to fulfill the requirements.

Anyway, politics is completely unpredictable.
Who we may think will be the next nominee may not make it to the first primary.

What Democrats learned from this cycle is their theory that a relatively unknown VP rising to be the automatic nominee out of necessity within 100 days of election day, was piss-poor circumstances. Even with $1.4 billion they couldn't buy her popularity.

It's really seeming like Clinton & Obama were two-in-a-generation politicians that were popular just based on their charisma.

The media tried to give the ball to Gore, Kerry, and Hillary and they could only go so far. Biden only won because of the pandemic and the media blaming Trump for a year.

But we, and the Republicans, shouldn't rest on having Trump for four years and his popularity will just transfer over to Vance, or whomever the next nominee will be. In the same way Clinton and Obama had celebrity-like popularity with the voting public, Trump had legit celebrity popularity... but the next nominee won't.

So right now the Democrats are worried about their bench for 2028, and they should be.
The Republicans should also be worried, and make sure the next four years will be so good that the voting public will want whomever is the next Republican nominee is to ride the wave that Trump started.

It should be similar to Bush41 riding the wave Reagan started, except hopefully win no 'read my lips no new taxes.... and then I raised taxes' royal fuckups.
