Valentina Shevchenko vs Zhang Weili – Let’s Talk About It

I expect Val to take the first round by ish-ish before Weili loses patience and gets taken down. Zhang will probably surge for the third, and Val will steal at least 1 of the championship rounds via ground control. Split decision 48-47 Val, and she retires in the cage.

I mean she's never looked better but she's also fighting people that aren't any better than the ones she beat before she lost to Rose, except Tatiana maybe.
That's not remotely true.
Before rose she fought jj, Andrade, Tecia, Aguilar and Taylor.
Since rose she fought jj, esparza, lemons, Yan and Tatiana.

Let's be real.

Canceling it would not be a poor option. I just can't even think about having to sit through another 5 round shitfest while waiting for the main.

As if the 321 co-main wasn't horrid enough.

Put these things on the prelims if you must, but stop fucking these cards up for the fans who actually pay and keep this shit alive.
This is most likely going to be a banger.

Idk what reality you live in bro

Hasn't avenged yet, once she's Flyweight champion a 3rd fight is a high possibility.

Also val isn't any different with her 2 losses to Amanda she's never avenged.

Yeh, Val isn't all that much different in that regard.

There really isn't much of a chance of a 3rd fight with Rose if Zhang wins. Rose isn't really anywhere near a title shot. More likely if Zhang loses actually. At least they'll be closer in the division.

A promotional video of Zhang ran during the Bonfim/Brown FIght Night.

I'll see if I can find it later.
  • Holy FUCK does Zhang look strong now. While I'm not going to predict how this fight ends, one thing is abundantly clear.
  • Zhang is not fucking around.
  • Zhang is not going to make this easy for Shev.
I'm expecting an absolute war.

I think esparza is just rose's kryptonite tbh.
Yea, was just being silly. But it's weird how all three top gals have their unavenged two losses and Zhang and JJ dismantled Rose's nemesis pretty effortlessly - fighting is sometimes an odd sport.

never been impressed with weili's striking tbqh. That first Joanna fight was just whinging overhand rights the entire time. Very diego-lopes esque. She's obviously improved it since then but Val is a step above.

We get it, you are a "bot" but you don't get paid to be one....

Haha you hate UFC and want everyone else to, a real Left Leaning "Winner"

This is one of the best woman fights we can get right now, two of the top, the tip top and you are complaining because my pension has gowth 27% in a year.

This fight has me genuinely excited. Two of the best women to ever do it, finally set to square off. Shevchenko’s technical skill and composure are unmatched, but Zhang’s power and pace make her dangerous from the opening bell. This is one of those matchups where both fighters bring something the other hasn’t really faced before.

What makes it so interesting is how different their styles are. Valentina is all about precision, timing, and control. Zhang brings chaos, aggression, and relentless pressure. If Valentina can keep her range and stay calculated, she probably picks Zhang apart over time. But if Zhang can drag her into a firefight early, it could get ugly fast.

A few things I’m wondering going in:
  • Can Zhang’s aggression actually break Valentina’s rhythm?
  • Does Valentina still have that championship edge after all these years at the top?
  • Who handles the pace better if it goes deep into the fourth and fifth rounds?
Personally, I’m slightly leaning toward Shevchenko. She’s just seen more high-level situations and knows how to stay calm when things get wild. But Zhang’s explosiveness makes her a real threat to finish anyone if she finds her moment.

Who are you picking, and how do you see it ending? Decision? KO? Submission? And do you think this fight changes the conversation about who the greatest women’s fighter of all time is?
What’s the reach and height difference?
