Charles is the highest ranked opponent Gamrot can get so he shouldn't be pushing too hard for it to be 5 rounds. If he thinks he can beat Charles 3 rounds should be enough. As it was pointed out already, fighters get paid the same whether 3 rounds or 5 rounds.

90% of Charles fights end before a full 3 rounds anyway.

It's pretty clear that 3 rounds favors Charles & 5 rounds favors Gamrot. Charles fights in a way that he's going to be pretty tired in the championship rounds & Gamrot has an exceptional gas tank.

I like Oliveira more from an entertainment perspective but most would probably agree that if he doesn't finish Gamrot relatively early then he's gonna get grinded out the longer it goes.

He's had like 50 fights and has beaten plenty of fighters of every style. He is what he is. He can lose to any style and beat any style.

It is worth noting that unlike arman or islam, gamrot is not known for top control. If anything. He's known for having shitty top control, but endless takedowns.
True, Olivera stopped Dariush with a TD heavy plan. Just seemed to have nothing for Arman with his grappling. Gamrot is pretty boring, but he did manage to get Arman down the last 3 rounds of their match. I know it's MMA math sort of, but just going off of what I know.

Well sure, but what other options does Gamrot have to get him a title shot? Charles is the best possible fight he can get so if he has to compromise a bit he should probably do so.

Gamrot is my countryman but i have to say he has suspicious chin. He got rocked/dropped in at least 5 UFC fights out of 9 ( i can remember Kuteladze, Arman Tsarukan, Beneil Dariush, Jalin Turner, Dos Anjos). At least he has great recovery after punch.

Woah, woah, woah. He had nothing for Arman? Wasn't he the only one of the two who threatened with grappling? with the guillotine especially. Arman did good staying tight, chest to chest in charles' guard, but never threatened much with the grappling outside of some gnp.

I have no doubt gamrot can get anyone down to be honest -- his takedowns are spectacular-- He just doesn't tend to really be able to hold them down.

lol that's a bad look wanting a 3-rounder as a main event

I mean I get it

but how much more weakness can u show bruv

thats not how i read it. i think charles wants a 3 round fight on a PPV event on a main card (but not the main event). where as the ufc/gamrot are eying a fight night main event. I can understand oliveira wants to be on a PPV card and not on a fight night

Gamrot could grind his way to a decision but it’s hard not seeing Olivera at his best not going tick for tack and winning every exchange while doing so.

The thing is while Arman looked very improved Olivera imo looked less like the iron juggernaut champion that went to war with Poirier, Gaethje, Islam and Dariush he was extremely willing to let the fight get away from him. His cardio also seemed weaker when it should’ve been better on paper then Arman’s.

At his best I’d pick Olivera to blast Gamrot on the feet and punish him everywhere until he finds a finish but currently I wouldn’t be shocked to see Olivera try to rely on his power punching and BJJ while Gamrot scores points being more willing to grind like he did against RDA. I just feel like Olivera showed signs of slowing down and Gamrot is a great test to see.

He wants it to be on a PPV, can’t do 5 rounds for a fight like this on a PPV

Charles is such a coward at times man.

Ducks Fighters, ducks 5 rounders, etc

Charles is a lock in every fight (trust me bro). Just depends if he gets cut on the forehead before the fight or not.

lol where does it say he wants a 3 round main event? it just says he wants a regular fight at a PPV card.

I see it as the opposite. 3 rounds is the easy way out. Gamrot absolutely should push for it to be 5 rounds. Charles is the former champion 5 round experience should theoretically favour him. Charles may get a fast start and win a round have have a close round 2 that can spell demise in a 3 rounder gamrot confident in his cardio and conditioning his two strongest assets of course he's going to want that ball in his court. This fight likely serves as no 1 contenders fight at lw. Should be a 5 round affair

Certainly Gamrot should push for the best possible outcome for himself. No doubt. However, nobody else is available that can propel him to a title shot with a win so he might need to compromise in order to get the fight. He's not going to get a title shot off beating Dan Hooker. Charles can just say no, fuck that, and that be it.
