Was there actually a political message? The pro-military stuff and general jingoism was way more explicit back in the early 2000s with the invasion of Iraq.
Seems a bit more toned down these days with the UFC's higher profile, more international audience and new ownership.

The worst piece of proaganda I've seen recently is the video in which fighters talk about how being a UFC fighter gave them the skills the needed for careers after fighting.

The pro military stuff is now mainly in the pre show packages, and you're right, it was way more prevalent back in the day. In fact, were some ufc events sponsored by the military back in the 2000s and 2010s? Or was it call of duty that was sponsored by the military that sponsored the ufc? Either way, as the military has come under more (often totally justified ie not Trumps f'ed up critcisms about the US military) criticism from the right its been toned down a lot.

Oh, it's all self-interest. There's no moral or logical consistency to Trump or Dana aside from what they want at any given time and they change direction as soon as itsuits them. It's like when publication's call Trump a fight fan. He's no such thing.
He promoted and attended fights but only to promote himself, like everything he has done as adt actually, self promotion. And the fact wanna be strongman love being associated with guys who can actually fight.

The helicopters line he owned to fly in high rollers from Miami got busted for smuggling coke up the coast (check the judge on that case lol)and his airline failed almost as soon he set it up. He then defaulted on his creditors (including his contractors, staff and people who brought into his penny stocks) and only avoided personal bankruptcy because the banks decided that something was better than nothing.

It then gets worse until it all becomes about the Trump brand and by extention him. He then sells his brand to whomever person gives him money. That's what he did, he wasn't a big realestate mogul, he had a small family business and the business was Trump being famous. After about a decade of falling into obscure failure his star was remanufactured by the Apprentice, Mark Burnett really. His Apprentice character is entirely fiction. They mostly made up his success.
This is where the Russian money enters Trump world.

Ps as an interestingly sidenote when trump says he only got 1 million off his dad to start (a large amount of money at the time but also a total lie, but whatever let's call it a given) its kind of irrelevant. The most valuable thing Trump's dad gave him was allowing Trump access to his, Frank Trump's extremely substantial lines of credit by acting as a guarantor.
