The fence double grab made me not care about the stoppage
I agree if he didn’t grab the cage like that and stood up it’s more of a legit argument. He started wrestling the ref though he was out of it some what

You literally just take a point during the next stoppage in action... It's what they teach to not disadvantage Lewis for a possible finish.
But Tex has been allowed to improve his position due to egregious fouling. As a ref you cannot abide that. Lewis was owed his G&P position vs a rocked opponent. So some sort of intervention is needed.

Stoked for Lewis but that was one of the worst stoppages ever.

Imagine calling Ronda's fine ass with her wife next to him lol.
Real men scoff at the idea of being tied to just one woman. Keeps 'em on their toes and totally changes the relationship dynamic. They don't get nearly as uppity if they know you've got multiple options.

It's probably instinct to cage grab when you're getting punched by Lewis up against the fence. Should have just deducted a point. That stoppage was trash
To argue the other side, if you must commit egregious fouls to escape a dangerous and potentially fight-ending situation, then the ref's split-second decision is on you.

All right guys, its time to get serious about a 10 count in MMA... I think Boxing got it right.

I don’t think they are allowed to do that right? I’m pretty sure if a foul occurs you have to pause the action right away.

So it’s either:
1. Stop the fight
2. Pause the action and take a point while Derrick is trying to finish
3. Let Derrick try to finish but let Tex get away with the grabs

Name one other time in UFC history that a fight was stopped because a foul prevented a KO or TKO. You can argue that it's street justice but in no way is that a regulation stoppage.

Remove his hands from the cage or deduct a point after the fact.

That was atrocious.
He obviously wasn't quick enough to remove the fingers.

After the fact? In such a situation Tex would have been allowed to improve his position due to egregious fouling. As a ref you cannot abide that. Lewis was owed his G&P position vs a rocked opponent. So some sort of intervention is needed.

Why are you never in the running for poster of the year? Or @europe1 just giving you your flowers brother. Fun night of fights.
Oh you...(blushes). I imagine it's because I don't post here nearly often enough. I'm guessing at least half of Sherdog has no idea who I even am. And considering the political views of that half, I'd actually rather things stay that way TBH.

When have you seen a fight stopped because someone grabs the fence?
When have you seen a ref run in to give a foul for a man climbing the cage like Spiderman and mush the ref in his head like a fucking little brother. I would stop the fight for that bullshut as well

How many instances have we seen of fouling ever preventing a stoppage? Particularly in situations like that?

EDIT: Brazilian roid lady vs redheaded Canadian chick. But that was eyegouging during an RNC and Canadian got it anyhow. Leech also eyegouged to escape Mattews guilly but that situation was more unclear.
