I agree he's live. Tafa also moving down a weight class. He looks fitter obviously but it's always hard to tell how the adjustment will go. He may be used to slower guys and not handle a more agile one.

HW is so bad. And Tafa didn't look great there.

Tafa is still not even ripped at LHW.

Realistically I'm not even sure how much bigger framed the current UFC HWs are vs LHW of today. Maybe 10-15 years ago when avg LHW was 6'1 (actual height not imaginary 6'5 Shane Carwin height) back in the Werdum, JDS, Kongo era where a lot of HWs were around 6'4 and long reach but current HWs, especially the bottom half of unranked guys are basically fat MWs and LHW who just ate their way into a weak enough weight class for them to gain UFC employment.


If anything I think traffic should be going UP and guys who may fall short of the title at LHW should try their luck against the slow fatties. I could see guys like Dominic Reyes in the top 5 at HW and Jan maybe stretching his career a few more year. I'm not saying they beat Aspinal but I think they would be plenty fast and powerful enough to have a number next to their names for a while.

100% agree. Truly big and athletic guys at HW are literally by default top 10 these days. And then you get an outlier like Aspinall who's naturally big enough to be a HW (if he REALLY wanted to be super lean he could probably cut to like 220...but no point since he's not making LHW anyway) but moves like a WW and still has HW power. No wonder nobody makes it out of rd 1, he's a unicorn in a division of mostly donkeys.

Almeida is probably the best example. He could definitely make 205 but he's figured out he's big enough to still use his superior grappling to toss around fatties and get wins at HW easily enough so why bother cutting?

Bonifim is respectful but you can tell is ultra confident going into this. I know WB has significantly slowed down, no doubt about that, but he can still surprise an unsuspecting and under defended opponent who doubts him. I agree you with you, one last hurrah!
