UFC losing its appeal?

Pretty much. Everyone hates everything here. I think people just come here to rant and rave about shit they dislike for a form of catharsis since they can't afford therapy, lol.

Kind of like people who moderate a forum but complain about its users every single day? ;)

True, but also false. Of course priorities change and if you have been a fan for ~20 years, you are not the same person today, and as you get older you generally don’t have as much spare time to binge watch MMA.

Having said that, if you don’t think the quality as in exciting matchups and well marketed characters has gone down, you are incorrect. The overall level of skill has gone up as more train MMA, but the roster is bloated with DWCS type of fighters that will never make a name of themselves. When the roster grows, it becomes more difficult for fighters to stand out when there are so many cards and so many fighters.

So while it’s definitely true that “in my days” type of narrative is in play, the product itself has objectively become less exciting as the UFC creates fewer stars or “name” fighters but instead focus on quantity.
Excitement is subjective. You're objectively wrong

The fact jamahall hill is a champion in the same division that Jones, Liddell, rampage and shogun were says all you need to know about the UFCs state
Hill doesn't even crack top 10 ten years ago
I would bet bellators top 5 all have a reasonable shot at beating the UFCs lhw champion
When has that ever been the case for any division?
Have you ever considered the fact that there's a possibility Hill sleeps all those guys? It kills me inside to even think about it honestly lol

Tend to agree with others, it’s hard not to be as excited when you have seen it all before. The goat talk for me and fighters wanting to be multiple champs just makes me want go asleep. Every now and again a fight or fighter will come a long and snap me out of the slumber. It’s not the ufc, it’s saturation, age and cynicism.

Thread confirmed. UFC is dying

Tune in next week for Why is Islam fighting a smaller fighter and Jones is 35 at heavyweight this sport is dead

The stars are gone, and people are afraid to get cut if they lose.

I used to know every single fighter on the card and their story. Now I couldn't tell you who half of them are. The fighters used to be like video game characters with their own unique look (Chuck's Ice shorts, Shogun's tiny little skivvies) etc....but in the UFC's horrific greed they took it all away.

I've been here for a long time and imo the UFC is better now than it used to be. We have cards almost every weekend these days, and the skill level of the fighters is much higher. "Back in the day" there was a lot more lay and pray, wall and stall, and just overall bad fights. If there's one thing that I think sucks about current mma it's the women fights. They should have their own cards for the people who want to watch that.

And yes I'd obviously prefer if they would move away from the PPV model instead of increasing the price even more but as far as the product itself it's better than it's even been

People who have the opinion of TS just need to move on from MMA. It's not for you anymore, and that's OK. Find something better to do with your time if you think it sucks now

You still see the best vs the best, do you think Hill will pull a noname totally unranked chump for his next title defense? Cause that shit happens in boxing, a lot, from MW...no, the best still fight the best, and card was entertaining, lot of finishes, for a 15 fight card it did delivered to be honest.

we don't have enough of these kinds of threads. let's make more.

I really wish the UFC would have cross promotional fights like the one bellator and rizin did. Unfortunately I know that would make absolutely no practical business sense for them but still it'd be so sick to answer these questions and it would probably help the sport increase in overall skill
