UFC losing its appeal?

UFC will just be part of the Power Slap marketing funnel imo. Give it a few years.

Over the years I do admit i've become more of a casual fan after losing much interest in the UFC and MMA in general
I went from watching every single fight of every card, getting BJ Penn's autograph on my MMA gloves, buying DVDs of fights in the past, to now just watching 1 or 2 fights every now and then of big name fighters

The UFC needs to trim most of the roster

Too many no name cans on the roster who cost the UFC money instead of make money for the UFC

Should be around 15-20 fighters per division only

UFC actually needs to be the best of the best again not just full of no name cans whose skill level are equivalent to bums fighting on the street

If they trimmed all the crap out of the LHW and HW division there would only be like 4 fighters between both divisions.

The actual UFC product is complete shit, much like the other major sports it's mostly due to too many ads, aka greed. So basically Dana White has to make more money and millions of fans have to watch a more boring less interesting video. Mike Goldberg was the worst thing about the old UFC product and Jon Anik, Rogan and Cormier are the new worst things about the UFC product. In terms of the business itself I'm sure the worst people are whoever owns it, Dana and the higher ups. But the way that Anik talks about stuff, "Timex watches take a licking and keep on ticking," him saying that over and over again as the fight is going on, how can you even look at yourself in the mirror after watching a program like this, and not feel ashamed? Really what do you have to tell yourself in order to be OK getting cucked like that? Dana fucking some prostitute with your money being like "yeah you stupid pig watch another ad and give me more money". Really disgusting.

That event was stacked with quality fighters, you filthy casual

i think the lack of draws may hurt them but not necessarily financially if they have to produce cards for espn - there is a changing of the guard and it will take some promotional work to build up the next round of starts - when you think about it.... ngannou, izzy and usman are all non-factors today - they spent a lot of time, money and effort to build them up - assuming they thought they would carry the torch.... now its hard to invest in leon, alex and they are more than likely hoping jones wins as he is more marketable then gane who lost to ngannou... should be an interesting year....

I'm watching UFC 283 here and looking at the card thinking "what is this absolute garbage" it's a fight night card!!

I remember back in the day the UFCs being stacked head to toe of unbelievable fights, that's what brought them to the dance, that's why it became so popular. It was slowly catching Boxing up as the no1 combat sport.

They had 20 of the elite fighters in each division, the best vs the best, lose 3 and you're cut from the organisation. How could you not love that?

Now we have 88 active fighters in BW alone.. 80 in LW, MW. This is why years are going by and we're not seeing the best vs the best.

Whoever booked Andrade vs Murphy needs sacking. The most mismatched fight I've ever seen.

Ufc dropped the ball.

Francisv Jones should have been booked for interim belt and Francis shouldn't have been gifted a t's until then.

Ufc made dusty vs Conorbbotched their star. Ma's got wrecked by Usman.

It's flat. Khamza ducked Nate.

UFC conned WME/ESPN/Disney, and now they're conning us by giving a watered down product. The biggest thing the current product lacks is prestige, a lot of veterans are retiring or being cut in favor of rookies who will fight for much less money. A lot of big names too are disappearing from the sport i.e. Conor, Khabib, etc. They're in a weird spot where there really aren't many true stars left and they're stuck trying to artificially create new ones, even to the point of fixing fights for them (Paddy, O'malley, etc)

I agree but people bitched when Conor fought. It was more exciting. It's lame atm.

I've been watching boxing.

RyGar v Tank, Usyk v Fury, Ruiz v Wilder, Loma v Haney etc.

Let's ko <Moves>

Agreed until andrade vs murphy that was excellent booking.

but generally yes, It seems like the ufc is struggling to make any worthwhile matchups.

People say the UFC has too much power but i think it's the opposite, they should be more forceful and transparent about making matchups, moving people down or out of the rankings for turning down matchups.

Meaning Gane by brutal KO or corruption judges by highway robbery.

Too many cards, too many middle of the road fighters. Bring back the old days when UFC meant elite level competition

Naw dont agree ..

I do think the UFC could be scouting better...

But having fights almost if not every week is great ...better then 2 to 3 months of blue balls between cards like before..

Also the sport is in transition there will be stars coming to fill the shoes of the older heads retiring...this is the nature of combat sports ...and without these guys getting a chance on these fight cards and ppvs we wont ever see or know future stars..

How do we find the next Anderson...GSP...Liddell...BJ PENN EtC ...if we don't gives new guys a chance to make history..

What i dont like is when new guys get 1 or 2 wins and act like the world is theirs ...im.more concern with this ..then if the UFC is losing appeal

I barely know who the current big stars are, so for sure ain't ordering UFC PPV. UFC Unleashed doesn't even have a regular timeslot.

I disagree, I believe numbers are pointing in the other direction. PPV buys isn’t the only metric. The UFC is currently transitioning towards a new generation of fighters. A lot were saying the same thing back in 2011-2013. We then witnessed the incredible rise of McGregor and Ronda.
