Rumored UFC Heading To NETFLIX - Leaving ESPN

Ive never paid for a wwe ppv, but I assumed they were cheaper than UFC or boxing. Considering how often their wrestlers do matches I assume it's an easier business model to merge to that format.
Surprisingly, no they weren't cheaper. Before wwe network started in 2014, the most expensive ppv was WrestleMania and cost $55-$70 (depending on the provider). In 2014 UFC ppv was $60. I believe Royal Rumble and the other big ppvs were $10 cheaper than WrestleMania.

I'm assuming WWE had the same problem UFC is having now: trying to convince fans to spend than kind of money on ppv. WWE then gave every ppv and their entire library away for $10 a month. Every ppv including WrestleMania was included. I don't see UFC doing this though.

If all fights will now be on Netflix with no extra for PPV, let’s do it! I would love to enjoy all the big cards like the rest of the world where we don’t pay PPV for the fights, just the Netflix subscription
$40 a month would be about half the current price of a ppv. That would be enough of a cut in price for some to subscribe, some still wouldn't. As someone who streams, they'd have to cut it down to about $20-25 at most to get me. I don't care about their library of fights, B grade promotions, grappling events or new stupid reality shows they'll probably create. Shit, I've never even watched a full episode of tuf and never will unless they get Cro Cop on there. Literally nothing less than Cro Cop.

It's also not necessarily all one deal. I mean, if it's a billion, it's probably an exclusive deal, but the UFC has talked about splitting the rights up.
Splitting rights would be a bad idea. No one wants to pay for 2 subscriptions to watch UFC. Putting all on Netflix for a reasonable price or no one will care (and probably complain)

If this rumor comes to fruition it had zero to do with your idea.

First off, Netflix is about to give the UFC a 50% raise in yearly rights fees revenue. Secondly, it isn't the first time I've heard that idea. Last, but not least, ESPN overpaying for NFL and NBA content while sourcing out Inside the NBA and giving personalities like SAS a 5/$100 million is why they're not willing to pay up to keep the UFC. ESPN+ is stagnating in regards to subscribers and ESPN is looking to pivot from ESPN+ and cable to a third party approach.

Mention me again next time you're wrong.
I disrespectfully disagree, I think Dana saw my idea and put it into operation: warp speed.

ESPN+ crashed on me twice tonight while watching Dana White's Saturday Night Contender Series.
Good riddance.

No thanks. I was hoping it would be Peacock, since WWE is already there.

Exactly, who cares about fighter pay. They sign a contract so they're clearly aware of their worth. Don't like it, go somewhere else, simple economics.
I realize most folks on here are just jumping bandwagon or hate towards the UFC. Its one the most bizarre things I’ve seen in all my years, where people will cry and complain but will do nothing to actually support these fighters so care about. I’ve seen posters who complain about their fans PPV buy payouts and in the same thread they gloat about illegally streaming that same even their so called “favorites” are on.

If they completely sack off FightPass and merge it into Netflix how the hell is that going to work from an admin point of view.

All the UFC champions will become black overnight

Will be interesting to see how Netflix Dagestani’s look

I don't get it.

im good with it ESPN is crap.. has been for while it was UFC saved Espn not other way around it hasnt been doing good for years..

The ESPN+ app is notoriously dogshit. But ESPN is THE place for sports. They might just be playing hardball to get a better deal when contract negotiations begin. As they should.
I hate all forms of the ESPN app. I had to bootleg the fights on my phone last night, because I haven't been able to sign in for months.

The WWE network (library etc.) was great. Netflix has... the main shows and PPVs but a ton of content is not there. Netflix's WWE library is shit.

If this deal is realized, very likely exactly the same will happen to Fightpass. They will shut it down, and our access to obscure grappling library and random lower card fights are likely to vanish. Netflix has 0 fucks to give about the niche audience, so as long as the Big Stuff is streamable they will have no incentive to put the rest available.

A pity. Both WWE Network and UFC Fightpass have been some of the greatest platforms contentwise.

Fuck Netflix. I wanna be able to see JJ Aldrich vs. Courtney Casey at will.

(I am not suffering from ESPN asshattery right now - I get my UFC from Viaplay and Fight Pass, so this is gonna be a change for the worse if Fight Pass is gotten rid of - Viaplay is shit anyway, but as they only do the bigger livestreams and not handle the library, I can live with that (esp. as UFC PPVs are included* in the monthly charge I would pay for Premier League anyway)

*except ones with McGregor tax

Netflix works different. There's only 1 Pay wall.. you have Netflix you got all access . That an their greatest ever ff/rev functions. Is why I love Netflix.

Will there be tomorrow ppv just get on Netflix. Will you get all the ppvs with Netflix subscription?

Will Netflix of fixed the Tyson Paul fight issues with freezing etc because that was un watchable n EVEN ESPN + wasn't that bad
