Rumored UFC Heading To NETFLIX - Leaving ESPN

Surprisingly, no they weren't cheaper. Before wwe network started in 2014, the most expensive ppv was WrestleMania and cost $55-$70 (depending on the provider). In 2014 UFC ppv was $60. I believe Royal Rumble and the other big ppvs were $10 cheaper than WrestleMania.

I'm assuming WWE had the same problem UFC is having now: trying to convince fans to spend than kind of money on ppv. WWE then gave every ppv and their entire library away for $10 a month. Every ppv including WrestleMania was included. I don't see UFC doing this though.
That's what I hoped fight pass was. In fact I'd trade the ability to watch old events to watch current ones. UFC and Boxing are going to change eventually, something will break. Or maybe Abu Dhabi will fund both sports.

I just hope Netflix doesn't have the same problems when they streamed the Paul vs Tyson fight.
OMG that fight was a nightmare lol, it was buffering like crazy for me, and I knew it was not my internet connection because everything else was totally smooth and fine, then after the buffering the screen froze, it was just stuck on showing Paul on his way to the ring, I didn't know what to do, the remote didn't work, nothing. I had to physically unplug my TV from the wall and then power it on again.

Luckily I did manage to finally view it and the fight was only 50 seconds into round 1. But yeah that was a total nightmare. I saw millions of people saying the picture was so low quality about 540p, although I never had that picture issue, the picture seemed like HD on mine, but the freezing was a nightmare for that fight.

Netflix works different. There's only 1 Pay wall.. you have Netflix you got all access . That an their greatest ever ff/rev functions. Is why I love Netflix.

Will there be tomorrow ppv just get on Netflix. Will you get all the ppvs with Netflix subscription?

Will Netflix of fixed the Tyson Paul fight issues with freezing etc because that was un watchable n EVEN ESPN + wasn't that bad

Netflix has aired two live football games and multiple live comedy specials since then. They've fixed a lot of their issues. While their original content is mostly shit, the thing that really stands out to me about the live content is that the picture quality is exceptional. It was kicking ESPN, Peacock and Paramont+'s asses on that front during football.

All the UFC champions will become black overnight

Will be interesting to see how Netflix Dagestani’s look

I think they have to be gay too for Netflix.. oh wait nevermind no issues. 1742141518471.jpeg

Soooooo, does that mean we don't pay for PPV anymore??

Netflix must be paying something immense if they're paying both the WWE and the UFC more than their previous deals.

But is that actually happening, or are they getting something more like a two-for-one deal?

It's interesting as the WWE Netflix deal effectively makes the WWE Network (think UFC Fight Pass) completely redundant, thus cutting off that income stream. If the UFC do the same, I'll instantly cancel Fight Pass.

I can't honestly see how this is better financially? But it might be.

Bingo. People don't seem to understand paul Tyson was a stress test for the incoming WWE live events

Does the WWE still charge for PPVs or is everything on Netlfix now?

I love this deal if it includes UFC PPV level cards. PPV is a dead format that should have stayed in the 90s.

I think it's solely dependent on how much you value regional promotions, their grappling invitationals and the older fight library. Just like ESPN+, I'm assuming if they go to any streamer they'll likely give them a truncated, half assed version of the fight library with certain restrictions.

Ideally, the UFC gets paid out the wazoo by Netflix and pulls their PPV model. Even if Netflix charges $10-15 on top of the regular subscription fee for Fight Library and PPV access in HD, I would be open to paying it. I already have Netflix. $10-15 a month for everything the UFC offers? Count me in.

Odds are, they're going to do the same shit they're doing with ESPN+. Thank God I've got friends who love MMA and kick in for everything.

Its rumored to be around 1 Billion a year contract with Netflix...absolutely wild, hope to see a fighter pay increase.

As a fan, I hate the PPV model, but I know one of the reasons UFC fighters want to win a belt is to finally gain access to PPV points. If the UFC drops that model, I wonder if they will try to make up for the lack of PPV points in any way for the champs. Probably not though.

Love it or hate it?!

Both are lefty companies. I definitelywatched less events after the ESPN deal. I disliked them being involved with the mma in every aspect.

Maybe Netflix can be pressured to increase fighter pay.

They just need to add the ff/rev. Functions they have for all the shows on their games of you watch after the fact that wpuld be great as to go back to watch past fights. I still notice the live shows even after Netflox doesn't yet include the regular ff function it's the same bar you get on other apps. It might sound arbitrary but those functions s are ino what separates Netfliix so much from everyone else.

Does WME, TKO, or Ari Emmanuel have any ownership stake in Netflix? It's all one gotdamn scam artificially inflating valuation anyway.

If they completely sack off FightPass and merge it into Netflix how the hell is that going to work from an admin point of view.
You just add the fight catalog as they do in TV series.

No thanks. I was hoping it would be Peacock, since WWE is already there.
Peacock is absolutely terrible aside from few shows. Netflix at least has premier shows to potentially watch.

All of the stuff on Peacock from 3 years ago, except for one movie, is still there in my watchlist, whereas almost everything from my Paramount+ watchlist disappeared, and many of the stuff from Prime is either gone or now has a price tag on it. Hulu, same thing like Paramount. I have no more time for Netflix.

Does Netflix reveal what kind of numbers PPV events do? And will they reveal the numbers regular events do? How trust-worthy those numbers are will be a different point too I guess

I know they wont tell comedians how many viewed their specials. They'll just say "It did great!"

Obviously to not give away any negotiation leverage in that situation.
