I didn't say that testimony wasn't explosive. That has easily been the most damaging, compelling information to come out since this episode began.

The irony that Rudy was running a shadow government on behalf of Trump when Trump ran his campaign on the "deep state" paranoia is tickling, but not the hook to hang impeachment on. Mulvaney's press conference was embarrassing, but only for him. The treatment of the ambassador was disgraceful, but par for the course in international politics between national executives. The fact that men like Bolton wanted nothing to do with whatever the hell was going is another tidbit that doesn't amount to much in its own right.

If this is real, and more importantly provable, then this one man's testimony won't be something to which anti-Trumpers need to desperately cling. It will be the first drips in a torrent to follow.

We'll see. So far my money is still on the number where the most significant consequence of the whistleblow is Rudy's ignominious, final exit from politics and the public eye.

Absolutely. There's nothing on the phone call. The phone call was an excuse-- a Macguffin-- for the whistleblower to kickstart this whole thing. I'm amazed anyone talks about it.

Obviously that whistleblower had a deeper knowledge of what Bolton called the "drug deal", but I don't think even a CIA agent like him/her really knew what might be clinging to the belly of the rock he turned over. He or she was simply willing to roll the dice. It might be a conscientious by-the-book red taper with a genuine concern, but there's still a lot of people in government who are rabidly anti-Trump. Fire or ice.

I know you want to believe there is already enough, but it's not even close-- it's just pointing in the right direction. It's like everything from the summer before the election that led up to the Trump Tower revelation. I learned from that, and I don't have to be taught things twice. This man's testimony is the first inch. For this to be Trump's Watergate there is still a mile to go. Ultimately, they need to catch someone from his inner circle negotiating a quid pro quo with red-handed evidence, and then they need that person-- or someone else that close-- to roll on the whole thing. That's assuming Trump was clumsy enough to operate this boorishly.

That's what it takes to unseat a President.

Seems to me, like this is less a genuine attempt to Impeach the President, and more just another excuse to continue harassing Trump. No way the Senate co-signs this weak sauce and removes him from Office. I'm not even sure under the current cirucumstances if they'd even bring it up for a vote and would just dismiss it out of hand.... They're abs. gonna need a lot more. Their best shot was Mueller and if he couldn't get any of that to stick I doubt this will.
