International Trump: 25% tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports will start Tuesday, with ‘no room’ for delay

A Canadian arguing in favor of nonsensical tariffs on his own country with an already weak economy.

This is what a long term internet subversion campaign looks like.
It wasn't all that weak lately, actually. GDP growth was over 2% in Q4 2024. This shit is putting a damper on that now though. It seems like the timing is deliberate. Thanks, Vlad.

Our economy is exponentially larger than basically everyone we trade with except China.

This idea you dorks have that there shouldn't be a trade deficit is just completely and utterly retarded.

No one can compete with our purchasing power, it's going to naturally create trade deficits with whatever country we decide to do business in, lmao.
Youl have to forgive him , he's been hiding in his bunker the last 4 years with starman, they've only recently re emerged and aren't quite sure what's going on..

These are tariffs Canada has imposed on the United States of America for years.

Milk: 270%
Cheese :245%
Butter: 298%
Chicken: 238%
Sausages: 69.9%
Barley Seed: 57.8%
Eggs: 163%
Wheat: 94%
Bovine/meat: 26.5%
Copper: 48%
Aluminum: 45%
Steel: 25%
Cars: 45%
TVs: 45%

Throwing a fit about 25% retaliatory tariffs makes Canadian politicians look like hypocrites.
You clearly don’t have a clue what your talking about all you did was paste something about nothing . They didn’t even start the Tarriffs we did and even Warren Buffett says it’s an act of war he’s 5x smarter then Musk and actually has logic . Lol

Canada exported 412 billion mostly which is resources . They got a 132 billion surplus. Some of those Tarriffs are a trade deal with the oil and electricity we get from them for cheaper prices and driving prices up over here .

U.S Exported 350 billion mainly food ,agricultural stuff ( something canada can get elsewhere) , I don’t k ow what the surplus is but it’s irrelevant bc we aren’t doing it bc of that we’re doing it fir a made up fentanyl story Trump used .

Most of what we get imported from Canada are used for every type of business the 25% you deem unimportant just shows more lack of logic and uneducated posters on here . Sorry but it is what it is .

This is BS. Trump will be defended to the death regardless of the outcome and it will be the next schmuck after him who will be the one who is crucified. If the next president is a Democrat that is an absolute guarantee.
Trump was booed by his supporters when he talked about the vaccine. Over 70% of Trump supporters are against cutting medicad there was big disagreements over H1-B visas and Pam Bondi is getting backlash over the Epstein files.

They said Biden was sharp as a tack inflation wasn't happening and then it was transitory. Democrays said crime decreased when it actually increased. The left said the vaccine was bad when Trump was in office than did a 180 when Biden was in office saying everyone was must take it. I see far more disagreement with Maga than than Democrats will do whatever the media tells them.

Meanwhile, we got Trump over here telling farmers to "have fun".

Except you ignore the history that shows the US has had a slate of tariffs historically too and thus your one sided post here is just TDS bullshit.

Both countries have always had some historic tariffs or protectionism while at the same time agreeing thru NAFTA or USMCA to ensure the MASS BULK of items traverse the border tariff free.

I don't disagree with your point, rather this is just an aside: it's worth noting that the GDP of Europe and Canada together exceeds that of the United States. Whether it's possible to achieve full solidarity among all of these countries, I don't know, but if so we/they can wield real power under circumstances like this.

Democrats were not against the COVID vaccine. They were against all that weird unproven stuff that Trump was pushing. And Republicans were praising Trump about getting a vaccine out so quickly. Only thing Trump supporters were against were vaccine mandates which IIRC were local issues and Trump was against those. I don't see MAGA making a huge deal out of Epstein so not worth talking about especially since Democrats have no issue with releasing those reports. Ball's in Trump's court on that one. H1-B is the only thing that seems legit here, but that was mainly Vivek and Elon.

And yes the RATE of inflation was due to a temporary occurrence (COVID) for which it eventually went down to normal levels. The impacts are there and due to the inflation. The only solutions for that are deflation (you don't want that) or wages to catch up. But in the case of inflation there was no mention of Trump's inflationary policies or how COVID supply chain issues were the main cause. It was all put on Biden.

Very interesting play, see what happens.

Right now, why buy American? You can just get cheap crap from overseas.

This will bring more work to America. But prices will initially shoot up.

See how it plays out in the end, Could win big. Some car plant just decided to move from Mexico to the US.

Initially? Prices don't go back down after they go up.

How do they work?
Are you capable of understanding an explanation?

You buy a car that costs you $50k that comes in part or whole from outside the US before the final product is sold to you by a US company and if a tariff of 25% is put on it, the company who sells it to you will pass the extra 25% charge (all or most) on to you, the US consumer to pay.

Prices will go up. On many items, but not all. Immediate price jump on all electronics and many other items. Yes, they will not go down.

But more work will come to Americans. More opportunities and jobs.

Interesting to see how it plays out. This will be a big win or loss for Trump.

Milk? Eggs? How consequential are these when they are readily available locally?
