Training without the right music? Here you Go...

what got me over my plateau today: sum 41, i know most of you guys prob hate them but their album 'chuck' gets me pumped. prior to this i was listening to hip hop hence my plateau.

Chuck is an amazing album.

My recent workout pump up songs are:

The Acacia Strain - "4x4"
100 Demons - "Dying In My Own Arms"
Ligeia - "I'm Sorry You're Ugly"
Ligeia - "Makin' Love To A Murderer"
Emmure - "I Only Mean Half Of What I Don't Say"
Emmure - "False Love In Real Life"
Protest The Hero - "Limb From Limb"
Dead To Fall - "Stupid?"
Once Nothing - "Whiskey Breath"
Sea Of Treachery - "Purging Of The Wicked"
For The Fallen Dream - "Brothers In Arms"
Advent - "Hanging The Giants"

Ah, yes, The Bleeding. Probably their worst (i.e. radio friendly) song. Before you dismiss them, listen to Way of the Fist, Meet the Monster, and Never Enough.

Thanks, I'll look for those.

*puts flak on ignore*

I agreed with you on just about everything. Huge Lamb of God fan as well. But I'm with flak on that one. Seasons was just more diverse and the songs had more of a headbanging groove. Reign in Blood was too much of one thing, SPEED. Though Postmortem is probably my fav Slayer song of all.

I could talk about M.E.T.A.L all day. I probably have close to 200 M.E.T.A.L CD's from many different sub genres.

It's ALL about the groove. I don't care how heavy or how fast or how complex the music, if it doesn't have an underlying groove, it isn't worth much. The guys writing songs in Slayer, ****llica and Megadeth all understand that. Which helps explain why their bands got big and so many of their contemporaries' bands didn't.

You fuckin said it brother! I tried to get into the progressive/technical ****l. The odd time signatures, tempo changes, virtuoso playing, etc. I just can't dig it, no matter how "intelligent" it is, or how hard it is to play. The more extreme death ****l doesn't do it for me either because there is no groove or melody, just a wall of guitar fuzz, blast beasts, and growling. For me its Thrash(****llica, Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, Kreator), Traditional(think Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and the newer clones, etc), Melodic Death(In Flames, Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquility), Doom(Sabbath, Candlemass, The Sword, High on Fire), and the new modern post thrash/death/****lcore like Lamb of God, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, God Forbid, etc.

3:05 is such a brutal groove

I just got into Trivium a few days ago, but their new CD the vocals sound awesome, the singer sounds like Rob Zombie a little bit and not much screaming. Old sevendust is the fucking shit, their first CD is so amazing.

Deep lyrics too.....

I feel remiss about not mentioning a staple of my cd player and ipod for years and years. Despite being pinko commies, they can fucking play.

Donut I finally got a couple of their Cd's recently. Morello does some incredible stuff with a guitar. He makes sounds nobody else does.

Absolutely my favorite sepultura track:

Ok, I know you have been waiting for K-Dub's Motivational Music List. bear in mind that I am sort of the graybeard around here ( turned 44 this weekend) and so I have older tastes. Plus, I read through all of the posts and I dont recogizne about 85% of the songs or artists that were listed--may have to invest a few hours to look a few of them up and listen to them on You-Tube.

Ok, here is the list

SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA-excellent for an 8-10 rep squat set
Thunderstruck-AC/DC
At the Barricade from Les Miserables
One Day More from Les Miserables
Bat out of Hell-Meatloaf

Anything from Keith Green
anything from Hank Williams, Jr or Johnny Cash
