Almost every song on Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind and Powerslave is first-rate workout music.

The correct answer is Reign in Blood on repeat. Props for the Rammstein. And whoever said Amon Amarth is solid. I am a big Lamb of God fan. Also, bagpipes fucking rule. I love bagpipes.

Seasons in the Abyss > Reign in Blood.

AC/DC's "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll")" has bagpipes.

That's more I like it S3Project. I don't mind something heavier, it's just so cliche: a tatted dude in a black outfit doing dips to Disturbed. It's fine at times but ffs, there's a limit.

*puts flak on ignore*

No offense intended, I drank some beer after my workout (first time in weeks) and I'm being all opinionated up in here.

But I do think the songs on Seasons are better. Reign, in my view, is where Slayer hit their stride, but I think it's overrated. I should probably sit down and listen to 'em back to back and consider them more fully.

I think Seasons has a bit more substance to it, but I prefer the raw energy of Reign for working out.

Just for you, bro --

I met Tom Araya once, the guy is nice as hell. You'd never guess he was the voice of death ****l.

Cool.

A friend of mine, a guy who's a long-distance runner, teetotaler and long-time death-****l drummer, saw Slayer in, like, 1986 -- drove a couple states away to see 'em.

Small gig, small audience, so he was able to meet the band afterward. He got 'em to autograph a flyer from the show. Jeff Hanneman's salutation was -- and I remember this because I saw the flyer a couple of times -- "fuck a dead nun until she fucking dies again."

Oh, just remembered this. Slayer did a coliseum tour circa 1990 -- probably the one where they recorded A Decade of Aggression -- I was interested but I was too chickenshit to go. Literally. I was worried about the crowd behavior that might be involved.

A couple friends of mine, a punk-rock guy I played in a couple bands with plus his girlfriend, had more balls than I did so they went to the show. They said that when they got there, the cops had placed portable, plastic jail cells outside the arena, and the cells were already full up with detainees before the show even started.

My friend's quote was, "it was like something out of Dante's Inferno."

One more -- fall 1987 or spring 1988, I was in college, and doing acid regularly. One night I stayed up real late, my roommates were long since asleep, I was tripping mildly and playing with my roommate's cat.

I was listening to albums and decided to put on Reign in Blood, wondering if my soul was gonna be sucked right out of me by this, the premier hell-spawned rock album of the decade. I put it on, and almost immediately started giggling. "Come on, they can't be serious."

I pulled it off the turntable after a couple of songs and put on Sonic Youth's "Evol." That scared the shit out of me.

No Pantera mentioned up in here? I saw some Korn and some Mudvayne.. I also like Damageplan which is the spin off of Pantera.

Slayer is thrash not death m e t a l. Most of the guys in Slayer don't even like DM.

Whatever, I don't even care. They have so many fucking sub genres now it's stupid. Slayer was a big influence on death ****l, so maybe you could call them evil thrash.
