Whats the point of this thread? You claimed Topuria and Islam should fight and that both cleaned out their divisions but then hedged and said maybe Topuria should fight Evloev or Volk first. He hasn't even fucking begun to clean out 145 and he should relinquish the belt if he's moving up. It's stupid shit, threads like these year after year every week. Just goofy.

After all Volk was giving Islam problems in the grappling department while being a smaller man. Or did Volk know something commenters in this thread don't know?

The only reason why this fight shouldn't happen now is because Topuria has just a single title defense. Thats it. Not because he "hasn't proven anything yet" ( Holy shit what a retarded take ), or "Islam would ragdol him" ( The same guy who was struggling to pin a boxer in Dustin Porier down ).

Lopes has good boxing, but I highly doubt it can compare to Holloway, and his takedowns aren't that impressive, but I still believe that fight should happen. As well as the Evloev fight ( in my opinion an even easier fight for Topuria considering Evloevs standup is dogshit, and good luck being able to keep Topuria on the ground for 25 minutes or be able to finish him with GnP or a submission - Evloevs skillset is lacking in both ).

Once those fights happen, then Topuria going up in weight makes sense.

I hope people in this thread are trolling and are dishonest when they underestimate Topuria, because if thats not the case then there is no helping you.

Look at all the fighters who have lost their first fight with someone, and then gone on to win their second and or third fights with the same person. The second time fighters meet in the cage, usually means more than the first time. The only reason Khabib is undefeated is that he ran away from giving any contenders a rematch.

Fights before and after the title should not be viewed the same. While you are not wrong, he hasn’t been defending against top LW contenders after winning the belt. Not his fault either, as two of them pulled out of a TS, but he should at least take out Arman before moving to WW. Their first fight has no bearing considering their positions in the division at that time.

He's beaten the #1 and 2, and offered both of them rematches multiple times after becoming champ, and both of them turned it down multiple times, then when they finally accepted, pulled out at the last minute. They've made it clear they don't want the fight

Who do y’all have? Forget that—I’m going with Topuria. I think he will knock out Islam. Islam has improved leaps and bounds, but he does have suspect defense at times. And Topuria, despite being cringey sometimes, is actually a very special fighter. I’ve never seen someone with his speed and power (he’s like a 4x version of Josh Emmett).

Ilia hasn't clean out shit. He should rematch Volk and at least fight Evloev first. I like Ilia but thus is absurd

Islam has not 'cleared out the division' since he hasn't fought Arman yet.

Sherdog went up in arms about Arman getting injured, but this was his 12th UFC fight and the first time he's ever cancelled. He fights with good frequency and has had two opponents cancel on him, and he fought replacements without fuss.

History demands Islam x Arman happen. You aren't a real fight fan if you don't want to see this next because of a petty personal dislike of Arman. I think he's annoying and says annoying things. Doesn't change the fact he's clearly the #1 contender and the fight will be thrilling/competitive.
