Tonight’s biggest winners? Undoubtedly Ian Garry and Bo Nickal

I’ve already addressed most of this. MMA grappling is obviously different from pure wrestling, but I genuinely think this fight turns into a wrestling match because of both guys’ pride and their past words. In that kind of fight, Bo has the edge. He also carries a rocket of an overhand as a backup.

I never said Bo has DDP’s grit read the thread. DDP might beat Bo, I don’t disagree with that. But that isn’t the point. The point is that in a straight-up wrestling match, Bo absolutely wrecks Khamzat. I know it’s not supposed to be a wrestling match, but I think this one becomes one.

And Bo doesn’t need to crack the top five right now. He’s the most likely guy to step in on short notice in Abu Dhabi, why wouldn’t he?.

Bo poses questions and im not sure Khamzat has the answer.

Ah yes Bo Nickal who needed a groin shot to get Jamie Pickett down, shrugged/thrown off by Brundage and got out grappled outstruck quite easily by RDR is the answer for Chimaev.

What does Bo Nickal has for Khamzat ? Folk style wrestling credential ? That means nothing. Khamzat is leagues above him in MMA grappling.

You think Nickal has DDP's grit, heart and submission defense ? Don't make us laugh, DDP eats Nickal for breakfast.

Bo is not cracking the top 5 anytime soon anyway so he has zero shot at those guys in the first place.
MMA grappling means nothing” is just a lazy take. Of course MMA grappling is different, but let’s not pretend world-class wrestling credentials don’t matter. Bo is the most decorated wrestler in the UFC right now, and if this fight turns into the pride-fueled wrestling match I think it will, that’s exactly where he shines. Add the overhand bomb on top of that, and suddenly it’s not as simple as “Khamzat is leagues ahead.” His striking is limited, and the threat of the overhand changes how he wrestles too.

I’ve never said Bo has DDP’s grit I’ve actually said DDP might beat him, and I don’t disagree with that. But that’s irrelevant.

And Bo doesn’t need to “crack the top five” first. He’s the most logical short-notice opponent for Abu Dhabi. That’s the point.

Is Bo even ranked? Is there any reason to believe he might some day be in a position to fight Khamzat? IMO he gets murked by the entire top 15.

I’ve already said it, rankings don’t matter in this case. If the fight happens in Abu Dhabi on in October on short notice, and it just might, rankings are irrelevant, it’s about who’s available and willing. Bo is definitely game. And if it doesn’t happen next, then we’re looking years down the line, where Bo has way more room to grow than Khamzat does. At that point you’re not talkin about a en elite wrestler with an overhand, but a much more complete fighter.

And let’s be real about the rankings: RDR is sitting at #5 exclusively off a fight with Bo. So if Bo’s not “relevant,” what does that say about the guy the UFC already put in the top 5?

Well you're silly to believe this would turn into an Olympic wrestling match. Khamzat is gonna do what Khamzat does to win the fight, use his wrestling but mix it up. He wasn't too proud to stand with "little man" Gilbert Burns or Kamaru Usman. Meanwhile Bo can't even take down your average top 15 guy. His style of wrestling has proved largely ineffective against guys that aren't even close to Khamzat's level. He has nothing for Khamzat. What's he gonna do? Press him against the fence and stomp on his foot? This is MMA.

It’s insulting to mma to even mention bo nickal in the same sentence as khamzat

He was some shit kicker college wrestler lol

They’ve already exchanged words about wrestling, so that’s how the fight gets framed. Khamzat didn’t get into a wrestling conversation pre fight in the examples you gave.

When two wrestlers meet it’s either kickboxing sparring (and there’s nothing worse than sparring a bomb thrower) or a wrestling match, and I think Khamzat’s pride drags it into wrestling. That’s where Bo is at his strongest and the whole time there’s still that overhand rocket hanging over him.

And on Usman and Burns those fights are just examples of Khamzat not being able to fight his own fight. Nothing more. He also didn’t have the “I’m a better wrestler than you” mind games to contend with.

And since when has Khamzat “mixed it up”. He might be capable of going so but it’s not an accurate description of what he’s actually done to date.

Brother, no one gives a damn about this matchup here except you

Khamzat absolutely steamrolled DDP for 5 rounds and Bo got stopped by RDR in his last fight, but all of a sudden Bo is the big beneficiary the morning after Khamzat won the title. Some of you are something else.

After seeing the fights tonight i rank Ian Garry over Shavkat and Brady. I think if Garry rematched Shavkat, he would absolutely dog walk him. I think he just had doubts about his wrestling and grappling going into that fight. Having wins over Prates and MVP is crazy.

The only matchup that could be decent for Khamzat is Nickal or Ikram, and neither guy is ranked. Gonna have to watch 25 minutes of hugging for a while now.

Bo has a shit ton of work to do before he should ever even be mentioned in the same sentence as Khamzat.

Ian's 48-47 loss against Shavkat is holding up pretty well too. Shavkat had finished everybody within 3 rounds up until that fight.

Ian is going to be a Top 5 WW for a long time and maybe even champion.

lol at Bo Nickal
