Khamzat beats any MW from any era

lol okay man, let's respectfully agree to disagree.

Android Silva has the best MW resume, i can give him that.
I’m genuinely curious what it is about Jones and Silva that has people think they’re still in their prime when they’re knocking on 40. But guys like Shogun, Fedor and Weidman are done at 30– and everyone unanimously agrees. Do different races age differently or something? I don’t get it.

I hate to say it as a big fan of that era, but Chael was 2 minutes away from beating Anderson in a 5-round fight. Chael with Khamzat's submission defense would've won the title that night...then lost it when he failed the drug test afterwards.

Hendo and Travis Lutter also beat Anderson in the first round using Chael's approach. But they didn't have the pace/cardio of Chael and Hendo was too eager to trade bombs to follow a wrestling gameplan for 5 rounds.
Chael was a different type of ground fighter than Lutter and Khamzat. He was a more athletic, explosive wrestler that was struggling to incorporate jiu jitsu and become more of a grappler (as evidenced by all the submission losses). Lutter is closer to what Khamzat is. Weidman even more so…yeah, he’s probably the closest example.
But his jiu jitsu was a little more technical where Khamzat has better wrestling attributes. Weidman’s stand up I’d also say is superior to Khamzat. So when you combine all of that with the fact that Weidman got to such a deteriorated form of Silva, it’s really hard to say. Close fight imo.

Sometimes a great wrestler puts on a dominating performance for the belt, sometimes a great striker puts on a dominating performance for the belt.

Make no mistake about it - dominant wrestlers almost always eventually meets a person who can stop their takedowns.

So what will happen if that happens to Khamzat? Can he adjust? We don't know.

Romero, Prime weidman, GSP, Silva, Jacare, Paulo Filho and Demian would all be tough matchups

In my mind it's hard to ever see any fighter beat prime Silva who is matrixing Griffin. However, on paper Khamzat would be a nightmare matchup. I think as a fan of both fighters I reluctantly agree.

However Silva would've probably been WW in modern UFC, so in my head they would be in different weight classes. Also I think Silva with modern training wouldn't have focused on BJJ as he did, he did shift his training later in his career with better TDD instead of relying on subs from bottom, like using cage for TDD.

Anderson wouldn't have been as easy as people thought. It's simple minded to say because Anderson struggled on one night with Chael that he'd have lost to Khamzat. Khamzat almost got dropped and arguably lost to 5'8 ex LW Gilbert Burns.

Nah, his fight against Usman shows he lacks cardio and has no striking. Even DDP, who was completely overmatched, ended up having chances almost sunk in a rear naked choke vs Khamzat when he gassed in round 5.

Khamzat would have zero chance against wrestlers that can actually defend his takedowns, including the "prime" versions of Chael Sonnen, Yoel Romero, Dan Henderson, Chris Weidman, etc.
Lol at Chael or Dan stopping his takedowns. Me thinks you didn't watch either of these guys careers .

Romero, Jacare and Palhares would be all very interesting opponents. Burns created a lot of problems for him.

If anyone can time a perfect knee or kick on Khamzat, it's probably Anderson Silva. His finishing ability as a striker is pretty damn good. He can catch Khamzat during his shot or if the fight stays standing for any period of time.

2009 Anderson?
Yup, guy was an ass wrestler his whole career, and didn’t have better enough reflexes than Chimaev to stop his chain wrestling. Anderson’s biggest claim to fame was fighting shit athletes while being very athletic… and extremely skilled, but still.

Chael almost took the belt from him with a double leg and hanging out in guard. The sport’s evolved.

I'd say fighters with more traditional wrestling backgrounds like Yoel or Weidman would be difficult for Khamzat. They had the ability to stuff take downs, reverse positions and counter wrestle. They would make him really work for those positions. Yoels explosive movements would make Khamzat think twice

Khamzat would avoid the ground game with Damian Maia all together and out strike him imo

Luke Rockholds bbj is really good. I could see him putting up a good fight on the ground. Rolling out of bottom position or ending up in top position in a scramble. Getting back to his feet etc.

Jacare would've been an interesting fight for sure
