Why though? Book a fight that makes sense. He fought only once at LHW

Doesn't make too much sense but they don't really have many other realistic options with fighters that can make that date.

McGregor vs Chandler shouldn't be on a card that already features title fights so I think that one is ruled out. Maybe there are problems behind the scenes booking DDP vs Adesanya, not many other options outside those fights imo.

But at least establishing himself as absolutely solid, in MW and LHW (and then trying HW) is a better move, historically, than "winning a couple" in each division.
If Alex could pull off winning the HW title, better yet, pull off beating Jon Jones, He'd be in a 2 first ever categories.

You and I Know his time is Limited but for a bigger guy he maybe has 2 or 3 good years left. If Alex could;

>Alex fights Tom Aspinall and Wins (somehow) Holding LHW/Interim HW titles, Becomes first man to hold titles in 3 weight classes (MW, LHW, HW) (April 2024)
>Alex fights Jamalah Hill this summer, Wins. Goes 3-0 at LHW all top 3 match ups. (July/August 2024)
>Stipe/Jones likely fight in Autum (Sept/Oct/Nov)
>Alex Unifies the HW title Against Jon Jones; Becoming the first man to ever defeat Jones (Jan/Feb/Mar)

Alex is a GOAT candidate in these 3 fights (Aspinall>Hill>Jones)

with the short amount of time he has left in his career to make an impact nothing would send a bigger message in a career than this. Coupled with his Kickboxing Career, He'd crack all time combat sport competitors EVER. It'd be insane in course, beating Jones and Aspinall is a Tall Tall order, but Izzy was a dominant champ, Jones and Aspinall Also dominant champs.

He'd be a Legend. And if this fight is really happening, It is all totally within reach. It could all happen within the next year-and-a-half.

Is this legit? Fucking joke of a main event, I love Alex but he gets fucking destroyed by the much larger man here.

Not sold on Tommy yet. That being said, Time machine mir has his way with aspie 7 days a week. .

Sure. Throwaway match because whenever he feels like it, Tom is gonna take him down and violate him. I personally won't mind seeing Pereira get destroyed again.
you thought Pereira would get subbed by Jan.

That is a whole lot of IFs.

Well, What can you do?

Islams on ramadan
Pantoja probably in brazil the month after
Volk this month
Omalley in march
DDP just fought 3 weeks ago, Still hurt
Jones tore his Pec
Edwards will fight in the O2 in June (prediction)
At least this fight is a lineal Champion fighting an interim champion. It's kinda like the HW version Of Max vs Dustin 2

Point taken sir.

It fits the established pattern of 300 though.

Of all the fights on the card, only Weili vs Yan has any divisional relevance whatsoever.

Every other fight is just thrown together, makes no sense, and does nothing for either fighter. Especially on the maincard.

You and @RockyLockridge have made fine points...now I have to sit and ponder them sir lol.

Would be a fun fight for about 10 seconds. Tom's size, speed and power would end Alex's night before it began.

My ideal UFC 300 fights would've been Grasso vs Weili, Izzy vs Khamzat, and this. Hope I get at least one!

What would make this announcement more interesting is if UFC announced it was 100% for the HW title (Jones being obligated to relinquish it at least for the time being). I think a lot more people would get invested in it for that reason.
*Now imagine Jones grows his balls back and comes into the ring after the fight and verbally agrees to fight the winner. Now we've got ourselves a legacy fight and legitimate HW defense or passing of the torch.*

alex winning the HW gold
this would actually make sense
jones vs pereira

jones haters would cry in tears knowing hes gonna strangle pereira
haha

lets do it

no after jones vs stipe winner

hopefully pereira wins via some lucky punch

pereira vs jones

whole jones haters would cry again
jones would strangle pereira and its not even close

lets make this happen lets make some haters cry more

While I'm excited for this fight, Alex should vacate the LHW title before moving up.

If true, the HW title picture is becoming even muddier. You have the interim champ fighting the LHW champ, while the actual champ is on the sidelines healing up to fight a 42 year old fighter that hasn't fought in 3 years
LHW has been a shallow and irrelevant snoozefest since all the LHW legends retired.

I think Alex catches him.
