Media Tom Aspinall ready to move on from Jones fight: "Jon's retired"

Perfectly stated by Tom. Chael's right. Maybe Tom listened to GSP.

Regardless, it's good for him to move on, no use wasting his prime but I don't blame him for wanting Jones

Damn.

So you're saying that Aspinall vs Blaydes or Gane will pull as many PPVs as Jones versus established stars like Belfort or Shogun?

That's actually really impressive. Imagine how many PPVs he'd sell if Jones wasn't afraid to fight. The fight could be huge!

Too bad Jones is being a little bitch about it. Oh well, I'm sure he's getting paid mega-rubles for his Russian TV shows <lmao><lmao><lmao>
OK his first fight for the belt does 450k. The difference is Jones is a huge star for sustaining thise numbers the better part of his active career. You do understand there isn’t a chance in hell Aspinall will? The fact is he doesn’t even have the supporting cast to be a huge star. The focus on sherdog seems to be Jones. Have you considered Tom just isn’t gonna sell?

What in fuck are you talking about?

Why do I give a fuck whether Tom is going to be a huge star or not? Why do I give a fuck about how much money his PPVs sell? lmao

Do you think I'm try to wife him up, you dumb twat?

Jesus Christ, you Jones fangirls are straight up ponces. I just want to see fights. I'm not interested in what's in the fighters bank accounts cause I'm not a pink haired twat trying to marry them like you apparently are.

How them drugs treating you, buddy?

Sounds like UFC is ready to move on from him too (FINALLY). Having a coward holding a belt is bad for business. They must see that by now. Jones is so yellow bellied that no amount of money could motivate him to face Tom.

This to me suggests the earlier news from Jon that the fight is happening but not announced yet was bullshit because Tom would not still be trying to goad Jones into the fight if Jones had allegedly accepted it already.
Oh for sure it was bullshit. Jon didn’t know what to tell a room full of dudes asking him when the fight was gonna be. So he lied (shock!).

Aspinall has laid the glaze on very thick in this interview. Might be hard for Jon to wiggle out of this one.

Yeah, his win over Stipe was super duper impressive and totally legit! Especially because Stipe was on a huge win streak and in his prime.

Stipe was 20-4 at the time, and his previous nine fights were all title fights. If you're really holding the Ngannou loss against him, you must be the only one left who doubts Ngannou's credentials.

There's really no winning with Jones haters. If Jones finishes someone (like Gane or Miocic), they were never that good and obviously a gimme fight for him. If he dominates them in a decision (like Smith), he's a scrub for not finishing them. If he struggles against someone (like Santos or Reyes), he's been exposed, and you might as well count those fights as losses regardless of the scorecards. If he beats older fighters, he has the unfair advantage of youth. If he beats younger fighters, he has the unfair advantage of experience.

At some point you just have to admit that you're going to have an excuse for any success Jones has, and nothing's going to be good enough for you.

Lol no. The Stipe Ngannou beat was 38 and had fought within the last 6 months. The Stipe Jones fought was 42 and essentially called up from retirement, as he hadn't fought at all the previous 3+ years.

Historical revisionism doesn't fly around these parts.
The irony of defending Ngannou/Stipe 2 while you all salivate at the chance of Tom getting a shot at this older version of Jones you think can finally be beaten is hilarious.

Yes 100% those that are not impressed by the Stipe win clearly think Stipe was "never any good". That's ABSOLUTELY the reason that win is criticized.

Posters wonder why they aren't taken seriously. Well...here you go.

I mean he could’ve told the truth. But asking a sociopath to tell the truth is like asking a dog to meow

Not a 42 year old that hadn't won a fight in 4+ years?
Yeah Blaydes was instead coming off 1 win.

Like Tom was when he got his title shot.

I guess 1 win is super duper infinitively better than none.

I like how you ignore the time frame as though 4 years in MMA means nothing. You make it too easy sometimes, Marky.

I think we should all move on now.

NO.

Jones killed any possible hype that might have been created.

Who would buy this card? Casuals that don’t even know who Jones, and Aspinall are?

Jones doesn’t have that cachet, right now. In fact he NEVER did. And Aspinall has been on the shelf for a year.

Strip him, and move on.

Love that take. Pretend like nobody cares. Not like he's been dominating the entire front page for months now while y'all brag about change.org petitions <5>
