Perfectly stated by Tom. Chael's right. Maybe Tom listened to GSP.
Regardless, it's good for him to move on, no use wasting his prime but I don't blame him for wanting Jones
OK his first fight for the belt does 450k. The difference is Jones is a huge star for sustaining thise numbers the better part of his active career. You do understand there isn’t a chance in hell Aspinall will? The fact is he doesn’t even have the supporting cast to be a huge star. The focus on sherdog seems to be Jones. Have you considered Tom just isn’t gonna sell?Damn.
So you're saying that Aspinall vs Blaydes or Gane will pull as many PPVs as Jones versus established stars like Belfort or Shogun?
That's actually really impressive. Imagine how many PPVs he'd sell if Jones wasn't afraid to fight. The fight could be huge!
Too bad Jones is being a little bitch about it. Oh well, I'm sure he's getting paid mega-rubles for his Russian TV shows![]()
Yea he wants old man Jones, but Tom loses to Jones and the #1 contender easily.Does that standard also apply to Tom not wanting to defend his belt against his #1 contender

Oh for sure it was bullshit. Jon didn’t know what to tell a room full of dudes asking him when the fight was gonna be. So he lied (shock!).This to me suggests the earlier news from Jon that the fight is happening but not announced yet was bullshit because Tom would not still be trying to goad Jones into the fight if Jones had allegedly accepted it already.
Yeah, his win over Stipe was super duper impressive and totally legit! Especially because Stipe was on a huge win streak and in his prime.
The irony of defending Ngannou/Stipe 2 while you all salivate at the chance of Tom getting a shot at this older version of Jones you think can finally be beaten is hilarious.Lol no. The Stipe Ngannou beat was 38 and had fought within the last 6 months. The Stipe Jones fought was 42 and essentially called up from retirement, as he hadn't fought at all the previous 3+ years.
Historical revisionism doesn't fly around these parts.
What's Blaydes then?Yeah, his win over Stipe was super duper impressive and totally legit! Especially because Stipe was on a huge win streak and in his prime.
Stipe was 20-4 at the time, and his previous nine fights were all title fights. If you're really holding the Ngannou loss against him, you must be the only one left who doubts Ngannou's credentials.
There's really no winning with Jones haters. If Jones finishes someone (like Gane or Miocic), they were never that good and obviously a gimme fight for him. If he dominates them in a decision (like Smith), he's a scrub for not finishing them. If he struggles against someone (like Santos or Reyes), he's been exposed, and you might as well count those fights as losses regardless of the scorecards. If he beats older fighters, he has the unfair advantage of youth. If he beats younger fighters, he has the unfair advantage of experience.
At some point you just have to admit that you're going to have an excuse for any success Jones has, and nothing's going to be good enough for you.
I mean he could’ve told the truth. But asking a sociopath to tell the truth is like asking a dog to meowOh for sure it was bullshit. Jon didn’t know what to tell a room full of dudes asking him when the fight was gonna be. So he lied (shock!).
Not a 42 year old that hadn't won a fight in 4+ years? What's Blaydes then?
Yeah Blaydes was instead coming off 1 win.Not a 42 year old that hadn't won a fight in 4+ years?
Yeah Blaydes was instead coming off 1 win.
Like Tom was when he got his title shot.
I guess 1 win is super duper infinitively better than none.
NO.
Jones killed any possible hype that might have been created.
Who would buy this card? Casuals that don’t even know who Jones, and Aspinall are?
Jones doesn’t have that cachet, right now. In fact he NEVER did. And Aspinall has been on the shelf for a year.
Strip him, and move on.
