Today Was The First Time I Truly Seen Jaws

Saw this when it was released at the drive in in the back of my moms vw fastback.

Jaws is definitely a classic! Funny story, a few years back my 5 year old daughter comes into my room early once Saturday morning, and she tells the wife and I that she woke up early and was watching a shark movie on Netflix. She was all excited and we asked her what it was, and she says, "This little boy is at the beach, and then is in the water and get's eaten!" We thought Jaws right away, and went into her room and sure enough, she was watching Jaws. LOL! Fast forward 7 years and she still loves to watch what would otherwise be scary movies for other kids.

Never seen it. Is it considered a thriller/horror movie?

On a morning radio show here a caller was given the phrase " gonna need a bigger boat" and asked what movie it came from an they said Titanic. <Huh2>

Jaws is a classic too bad many of the younger gen never saw it.

Saw it in a theater as a kid when it first came out. When the head rolled out of that boat hull, the packed audience flinched hard and shrieked in horror. Myself included.

jaws sucks, i'd rather watch youtubers catch giant sharks, only to let them go and not feed it to the poor villagers who are starving.

Went surfing and then went to mid-morning showing on IMAX. Definitely the correct order.

It was amazing to see it on the extra big screen. Stands up well for a movie from the 70's

They were not averse to casting ugly people back in the day

Quint was a more well rounded character than I remembered. Pacing was perfect.

A lot of the crowd scenes were more shot in a more claustrophobic style that I recalled.

Overall, it was great to take advantage of the cheap movie day and watch a classic on the big screen

I also caught 3000 Years of Longing. That was a miss for me.

I watched it in 3D. The scenes really popped out. More so than today's 3D movies. They didn't blur out the background and focus on the main characters like they did in Thor love and thunder. So that worked to it's benefit.

As for the story, I've never seen the movie before so it was new to me. I loved the barrel scenes and how they used that to create suspense. I also enjoyed the banter between Clint and Hooper.

So overall good movie.

It's playing near me in 3D and in 3D XD (whatever that is).

Not sure I wanna see it in 3d though. Rather see IMAX which is 25 minutes away

Truly seeing Jaws is watching it on a cinema size screen with a live orchestra.

My favorite movie. A few years back a local theater here brought it back on the big screen for Labor Day weekend. We went as a family to watch it there even though we had all already seen it. Pretty neat.

I did 2001 & Apocalypse Now in IMAX. Absolutely a different experience. IMAX should be showing these classics on the regular, year round.

I'd rather pay to rewatch old Hollywood classics in a theater environment than 95% of the new crap thats been released over the past decade

I'd probably enjoy that. I've seen Jaws to many times now to enjoy it on TV anymore, but an IMAX would be a new experience.

Watched a movie the other week that I enjoyed that had been written by the same author of Jaws. it had a nice shark scene in it. Had me confirming that while I live along a beach, I'll continue to stay out of the water. To many Bull sharks around here for my tastes.

Really debating taking my 7 year old daughter to see it in 3D. We just got back from myrtle beach so I don’t have to worry about her being scared of the ocean for awhile.

Even though it's PG I wouldn't recommend taking a 7 year old. But then again I'm not a parent. But I can speak from experience as a youngster watching horror films, it does mess you up and will haunt you.

But maybe your 7 year old girl is tougher than me lol very possible.

I had a chance to see 2001 a few years ago and I skipped it. It would have been my first time ever seeing it too. Definitely a missed opportunity for sure.

Also I agree. The 4 best movies I've watched in theater this year, 3 of them were rereleased classics (Godfather (2x), ET and now Jaws)

I would love to see more films being released in 4K, Dolby or IMAX.
