Tito confident he'd smesh Poatan

My bad G. I agree Tito would have gotten his head caved in.

People also aren't giving enough credence to just how much larger the guys in the weightclasses have become as they've become better weight cutters.

Guys like Tito, Chuck, and Randy had an inherent advantage being wrestlers and being used to taking weight off, they didn't have to deal with 6'4" granite statue champion kickboxers at 205.

Yes this is just more of the Poatan haters trying to move the goalpost after he clobbered the neckbeard destroyer of worlds. It’s fucking hilarious to see. Now Tito is the prince who was promised? You can’t make this shit up.

I heard that he said that he was going to beat him into a living death

I Have sources

i don't think tito's wrestling game was particularly diverse, just shot a lot of double legs. been a while since i watched prime tito though. that ain't enough to really outgrapple alex. his TDD is really solid. honestly though? if anyone's got the chin to tough out some bombs against pereira, it's prime tito, and he hit very hard himself, which is bad news for alex's shaky chin.

for me this ranks pretty low on the insanely long list of idiotic things tito has said over the years. could he beat poatan? i seriously doubt it. i feel the sport has evolved a lot and this current generation of fighters is levels above Titos generation. but tito is a fighter who fought at a very high level during his time, so when fighters say this sort of thing, i don't find it as insane as other people think it is. as a fighter you believe in yourself. and of course peirera hasn't faced a real wrestler so that's where tito's coming from. i still say alex would light tito up easily, but for once i'm not gonna laugh at tito's comments.

So.. a brawler like Chuck timed him and ko'ed him, but somehow he'd get pass Poatan ???

Let him tell you how i feel about this statement

No chama

Chuck Liddell had a wrestling background noob.

Yep, and Jan Blachowicz, a 40-year old striker, took Poatan down 3 times in 3 rounds. So people saying prime versions of Tito and other wrestlers wouldn't be a threat don't have a leg to stand on.

Don’t forget renowned takedown artist Israel Adesanya putting him on his ass.

So if he's primarily a grappler, and not a good one...how is he a top 5 LHW that held the belt?

I stg fight fans be getting some second hand brain damage through osmosis just from following the sport
I'm not the one who sounds brain damaged. You're second sentence is barely literate.

Who says Ank is primarily a grappler? And what other good grapplers has he outwrestled to prove that? For example, Jones outwrestled Bader, Cormier, the Janitor, etc.. Couture outwrestled Tito and Randleman, etc.

Ank is a well-rounded fighter who has a competent grappling game, but hasn't melted anyone with his wrestling nor has he submitted anyone in the UFC. He was submitted by Paul Craig, though. And he went life and death with a 40-year old Jan. He's good, but he's also fighting in a weak LW era. I don't think he'd be Top 5 in the prime years of Jones, Cormier, Rumble, Gustaffson, Davis, etc.

Prime vs Prime Tito represents some interesting problems for Alex , also it dosent hurt that prime Tito had an elite level chin
Aided by a huge head, even when his skull was cracked. But you're right, he did have a good chin. In his first 15 years of fighting, Chuck was the only guy to crack his chin. Frank Shamrock also beat him by TKO, but that was mostly by exhaustion and good gameplanning/cardio from Frank.

Jan is respectable on the ground. He used grappling to seal the deal in his win over Izzy years ago.

But for Jan to take Poatan down a couple times in 2023 and now Poatan stuffs Big Ank in 2025, it shows he improved his TD a lot. Still don't know how he survived on thr ground against a dominant wrestler though the game has obviously passed Tito up a while ago.

Tito was one of the original big LHWs, though. He cut huge amounts of weight and was sometimes 250 pounds between fights. I remember him being a commentator during one of Josh Barnett's fights (I think it was vs. Gilbert Yvel in Affliction) and interviewing Josh afterwards. He almost made Josh look small.

Maybe or maybe not. I'm not really sure if Ank is a better wrestler than Jan. When they fought, Jan didn't try to take Ank down, but Ank was only 2 out of 10 in his TD attempts on Jan.

Tito could maybe beat Anthony Smith.
Prime Tito vs. Anthony Smith would look like the first round of Tito-Forrest #1...except for the entire fight. Or like Smith-Reyes. I mean Anthony has trouble with 180-pound home intruders who might have a high school wrestling background or something.

Maybe at lower weight classes, but not at LHW. None of the current LHWs would be champ in the Jones-Cormier-Rumble era that was roughly 10 years ago. You also had Gustaffson, Glover, Davis, etc.

Took Jan down with one leg.
I don't rate Ank's wrestling that highly but still better then Jan's accolade wise.

Compared to late 90s-2000-2006 when Tito is from, the skill level is higher.
Those names you mentioned from the 2010s are higher level then Tito
