Big fan of that movie if I’m being honest. This scene is one of the best. Also, one of DDL’s best, most memorable performance. Just sort of dominates the screen whenever he is there and no matter what awesome actor he is playing opposite (DiCaps, Brendan Gleason, Reilly, Broadbent, etc.)

Excellent scene that also effectively foreshadows the scene where Amsterdam is thwarted at the victory anniversary party without feeling contrived or heavyhanded. Day Lewis really sells it.

My one complaint for the film is that I think it falls off a bit after that aforementioned turning point scene where Amsterdam’s intentions are revealed. Still remains very solid through the ending but just loses a bit of momentum.
