How crazy is it that it was ten years ago that Bale last played Batman.
A small female as Thor is utter bullshit. Give Chris back his fucking Hammer and let him be what he is. I am a Portman fan. But give us THOR....Enough with the fat goofy Thor carrying over. Thor should be maturing and really becoming the dominant Hero he is. That all being said, Bale is dominant and this movie still had great moments. But the writing is indeed shit, and almost kiddish.

There were moments of lightness and good-natured, comedic tone that I really enjoyed. For example, the little montage where Korg explains what Thor's and Jane's relationship was like. I thought that was a lot of fun. Then there were comedic elements that felt try-hard and tacked on.

Bale was great. But the biggest issue with Gorr was so tonally different than what was going on in the vast majority of the film. It's strange to have joke, joke, joke, joke then deadly serious shadow villain.

Saw it today with the wife.

The good:
- amazing action scenes
- cool villain, great concepts with how he stages his attacks
- some gorgeous scenery
- Russel Crowe as Zeus was very entertaining
- a few genuinely funny moments
- the flashbacks between Thor and Jane were sweet

The bad:
- Gorr needed more screen time to establish his chops. This was a huge missed opportunity
- hamfisted effort to crowbar gay characters in. Valkyrie is suddenly gay? She had some moments of tension with Thor in Ragnarok
- story jumps around
- Thor is too goofy
- parts of the final action scene were cheesy and really detracted from what could have felt like a high-stakes, epic battle to the death
- there was yet another scene where a hero’s pals were tortured and the hero gives the villain the key to their plans. This has happened in too many Marvel movies. It’s dull and predictable and there have to be better ways to advance the story
- EDIT: @ufcfan4 made a great point above, the juxtaposition of Bale’s grim Gorr and the goofy humour is jarring.

Overall I thought it was OK. I liked it more than Dr Strange. Aside from Spiderman, I haven’t really enjoyed any Marvel movies in phase 4. This could easily have been a better movie than it was, Thor L&T feels a bit like a missed opportunity.

I called it way back when the first trailer dropped. My exact word's at the time,

"Christian Bale's Gorr looks like he's in a different movie"

You have a woman dying of cancer and a serial killer of Gods. Yeah, there should be a few jokes here and there to break up the tension, but for the main part this should have been a serious movie. It doesn't have to be unrelentingly grim, but the central concepts should have been treated with the respect they deserve.

Well put

I voted 10/10, but really I would give it a 9.5/10.

********MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW ******
The good:
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor is freaking hilarious! He is probably my favorite Marvel character now that Iron Man is gone.
- The soundtrack and score was good. That opening battle with “Welcome to the Jungle” was hilarious!!
- Natalie Portman was really good, you had a real rollercoaster of emotions, knowing that she is dying, but have one last journey with Thor. That scene after the credits with Heimdahl was f**king heart-wrenching and warm at the same time. For a superhero movie to express these kind of emotions, this was really well done!
- Taika Waittiti is a great director! His sense of humor is oozing throughout this movie.
- Those goats were so funny, the scenes with the guardians of the galaxy getting pissed off with those goats almost had me crying with laughter.
- Christian Bale was a good villain and I loved how he came good in the end for his daughter.
- The visuals were amazing. Exploring new planets with crazy terrain was great. This movie was a good journey.
- Tessa Thompson was the Valkyrie was great. Her on-screen chemistry with Hemsworth is so good!

The Bad:
- I think another poster above mentioned it, but there were a few scenes of shoe-horned gay relationships. Personally, I have no problem with Valkyrie being a lesbian, as I think this was kind of implied a few movies ago. But, making Korg gay as well?? … come on, man, it’s trying too hard. But, whatever, it didn’t ruin the movie for me.
- I was kind of hoping Loki would turn up somewhere. I haven’t been watching the Disney+ series, but I guess he is still alive?? Somewhere??
Overall thoughts. The previous movie, Thor: Ragnarok is probably my all time favorite Marvel movie, I have seen it over 10 times. It’s so good. I think this movie is also excellent and a great addition to the series.

So, yeah, I’ll give it a 10/10. I enjoyed the shit out of this movie!

You make a good point. Even in Thor: Ragnarok, Hella was dark, but had a whimsical way about her.

Personally, I thought Gorr was a good contrasting villain, but I see your point.

Personally, I am enjoying the phase 4 movies. IMO, all of the movies leading up to End Game and the ultimate showdown with Thanos were kind of predictable. You knew the main characters would live and win in the end.

The phase 4 movies are unpredictable and I have no idea what direction they are going in. The recent Dr Strange movie had many “Holy Shit” moments for me … Agent Carter etc.

I look forward to each movie now, as I have no idea what’s going to happen.

To be honest, I liked No Way Home walking out of the theaters. Once, I actually sat down and digested over the course of the next few days to a week I realized that it actually has nothing really interesting going on. It went from an 8/10 to a 6/10 for me. You're right, all that movie has going for it is nostalgia. I actually like the second one better with Mysterio. I think No Way Home will age poorly as people realize it was pretty shallow.

I completely agree.

No Way Home was a good, solid movie, but it gets over-rated.

Ragnarok:
How did you end up here?"
"I tried to start a revolution... but I didn't print enough pamphlets so hardly anyone turned up. Except for my mum and her boyfriend, who I hate. As punishment, I was forced to be in here and become a gladiator."

Love & Thunder - Korg discussed that his species is only male.

Why the inconsistency? You would think the writer/director of Thor 4 would remember the dialog (that he spoke) from Thor 3. I know it's a little thing, but was distracting.

lol, nice find.

Korg being gay … that was so shoe-horned.

Hey, man, all I know is what has been said on the news by Chris himself.

Now everyone's saying the production just hasn't started yet. Who knows what investors pulled out once the global shindig started. But it certainly seemed like he was prepping for it.

I hope this Hulk Hogan movie is more serious toned. I think Chris Hemsworth does comedy very well, but this movie could allow him to demonstrate more range of acting.

The movie “The Wrestler”, for example, with Mickey Rourke, was so good.

Ho estly liked this more than Strange 2 . Most because I hated taking one of the coolest Avengers and killing her off literally just as she hits her stride as Scarlet Witch

I read an article on my phone today that pointed out that Phase 4 has already produced 55 hours worth of viewing. And is still no nearer to a coherent through-line. All of Phases 1 - 3 had Thanos and Infinity War/Endgame as it's focus. Even movies that didn't directly advance the story arc had an effect on the main characters that paid off in the final movies.

In Phase 4, so far, there's no sense of moving towards a final goal. No overarching Big Bad. Thanos had already been mentioned or shown in multiple films before Infinity War. Kang, if he is the next Big Bad, has only appeared in Loki. And then died. We haven't even seen his Variant yet.

My biggest issue with phase 4 is none of the movies seem to be leading anywhere. Phases 1 through 3 had a well thought out plan and each film built on the last. Phase 4 has felt like a bunch of stand alone movies.

I went 4/10. The vast majority of the humor fell flat, and the actions scenes just didn't work for me (the black and white scene being the exception).

I thought Jane as Lady Thor was done fairly well, and the goats for some reason made me laugh every time.

I'm worried about GotG 3.

Valkyrie has always had teh gay. The Valkyries are all female, and she lost her lover fighting Hela ages ago.

Maybe I’m just superheroed out? I really did not like Dr Strange 2 much at all, aside from some very clever ideas in how the wizards fight (the trap Strange set for the villain and how V used reflective surfaces to escape, for example.

Terry Bollea is a producer. So, I'm guessing it will show Hogan in a very positive light.

I guess it’s about managing expectations.

I mean, I came into this movie expecting a silly, humorous, space adventure with a bunch of my favorite characters and I wasn’t disappointed. I wasn’t expecting a dark, gritty, masterpiece.

Personally, I really didn’t like Deadpool 2. As I went into that movie also expecting goofy humor and to laugh a lot, but the storyline was kind of dark and melancholic at times.

I thought Doctor Strange 2 was great:

1. the fight scene with that octopus at the beginning was crazy!

2. When Professor X came, I almost jumped out of my seat. And, Agent Carter … that was so unexpected.

3. Benedict Cumberbatch really carried the film and the Scarlet Witch actress (Olsen?) was also really good.

Just watched it.

Fun, but not Ragnorak.

GnR soundtrack was awesome.

An odd mix of good organic humor and cheesy forced humor.

I thought all the main characters did a great job.

I felt the Jane to Thor transformation wasn't handled right/rushed

The Shadow realm was shot very cool.

Space Viking magic can do all kinds cool shit but can't cure cancer? You'd think New Asgard would have the best docs in the world.

The Goats had me laughing the whole movie

Wanted more Gorr

7/10
