The debate tonight. I am torn. As I was last election.

I am a Republican and believe in most of what they stand for.

But Bernie Sanders would probably improve my life with socialism.

I mean, really, why do i need to go to the ER and be instructed to say something so that i can be seen for something else.

TLDR: This world sucks.

Bernie will improve his life at your expense with socialism.

What flavor profiles would you assign to your top three candidates?

Inspired by the description of klochubar as sour.

Klobuchar is maybe more tart than sour. Little sweetness in there, and fulfilling. Like one of those starchy, not super-sweet desserts you get in some small island nations. Made with banana and breadfruit or something.

Buttigieg is like a seared, peppercorn ahi dish (raw in the middle) with a kind of sweet drizzle and some soy-sauce-based dipping sauce. Best with a beer at Happy Hour, but also works as an appetizer before dinner.

Warren's personality I don't think would taste very good (she'd be a good president, though). I'm thinking like a normal burger, maybe with some barbecue sauce, but nothing too interesting. Served with regular fries and ketchup.

Ed: I should note that that's an attempt at a kind of serious answer rather than an attempt to make any kind of point about my thoughts about the candidates as candidates.

Ed2: Also, not sure those are my top three. Warren took a big hit from me on the fracking thing, and Klobuchar is up there for me, but I'm not sure if she's in the top 3 if I think about it more.

hmm, if I do candy bars, Pete is a Caramello- bumpy and interesting and fresh and Cadberry-ish. If I do cereal, Warren is Raisin Bran. Sanders is a slightly overcooked but acceptable pork roast with noticeably too much paprika. Klobuchar is literally a spoonful of sour cream.



Also, I predict that Andrew Yang is going to wear a cape tonight.

the NYT did a kneecapped her with a hit piece early in the primary race - a story that was picked up by all the news aggregators.

policywise, she's not dissimilar to Mr. Biden, with two big exceptions;

1) she wants to slash military funding

2) she backs additional funding for the wall

interesting.

i prefer her over Mr. Biden...but is she electable? can she beat Mr. Trump in the general?

The right's view of America at this point seems to be apathy along the lines of "Make America Great Again, because we can't do anything else of worth!!"

Some small European country tries universal healthcare, drug legalization etc to great results, but America? No no no, we can't hope to match the innovation and skill of these small countries, who are we, some capable nation?
