There was nothing questionable about the Lawler/Koscheck stoppage

He was done.

Good stoppage. I thought it was early at first but in the replay it didn't seem like Kos was fully aware of what was going on just before the stoppage.

A little early perhaps, but Herb likes to err on the side of caution, ala Fedor vs Hendo, koscheck looks like he was flash out for a second and then recovers. Robbie did enough, we'll never know what would have happened if it kept going, but it is what it is

I agree, I just wanted a longer fight. If Josh kept his hands up maybe they would have kept it going. With his hands flat on the ground that's all she wrote.

IMO it looked early because it didn't look like Kos was out.

However, I think Herb had every right to stop the fight... Kos's head bounced off the canvas, and he wasn't defending himself. And Herb was protecting Kos from a world of pain.

The stoppage was fine. He wasn't intelligently defending himself. I think he was out for a bit and then came back as Herb was stepping. We can all imagine what was going to happen next if Herb didn't step in... he would've flailed a bit as Robbie cleanly knocks him out cold. Good stoppage.

Unusual KO imo.

Kos seemed to just stay facing down when Lawlor got back up? Anyone else think that?

Like he froze or something, I dunno. But it did seem a tad early to me, I'd have gave him 2 or 3 more shots to see if he could get shit moving.

Yeah. Kos seemed to have a weird reaction, not only to the shots, but even before that. Then when Herb called it he was already pushing him away with his feet. I have a hard time rendering an opinion on the stoppage, though it looked a bit early.

Fair stoppage, and I was cheering for Kos. He wasn't intelligently defending himself, so regardless of how clear he seemed moments after the stoppage, Dean was allowed to make a judgement call.

People forget that fights CAN BE STOPPED without an opponent being knocked out..that's what TKO's are for. KOS was taking excessive shots to the head and was not defending himself.

Good stoppage.

kos ate a knee before those shots

He's not bettering his position, he's not attempting to defend himself. Clear TKO.

I think that people forget about that "rule". He has to intelligently defend himself....not simply remain conscious while getting punched in the head repeatedly.

That said they could have let it go for 2 seconds longer for a cleaner win.

i like it better when the fighters don't have brain damage until they are at least 40. Stoppage on time if you ask me...

Not going to read the thread, sorry, ts. I assume I agree, but mostly giving the thread a bump to promote the correct spelling on this board.

LawlEr.

I thought it was fine, Robbie was landing some serious shots and Kos wasn't intelligently defending himself.

Good stoppage since Kos didn't try to improve his position nor was he intelligently defending himself.

If the ref would have allowed a couple of more seconds, it wouldn't change anything other than Kos' losing more brain cells.

kos ate a knee before those shots

yeah - I haven't read any of the post fight stuff but, at the time, I thought that Kos must have been really hurt by the knee. he just sort of collapsed down and let Robby get position on him and punch away.

in terms of the decision, at the time I thought that maybe it was a little early. but I don't think it was a bad call. The ref had great position and made a call. Kos was definitely hurt. I just figured that Lawler was going to have to land a couple of more shots
