THE LION KING (First Reactions)

Looks like they are sticking to the original ultra stringently (more so than any of the other Disney live action adaptations). Virtually everything dialogue wise and even imagery wise looked like it was just a direct take on or inspired by the original.

It could be they are just marketing that way because obviously nostalgia factor is the huge draw. I have a lot of faith in Favreau’s ability as a director, but it seemed so similar to the original from the trailer that there’s a bit too much of a sense of deja vu.

Much like the Jungle Book, the visuals look awesome.

I'd be ok with the script being almost verbatim, with some added humor from timon and pumba as long as they remake the original songs. As a child the music was my favourite part of the movie.

I'm so down for this, I'll be there opening day. The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie, so of course I'll be there.

I'll be watching this for nostalgia alone. Still holds up as the greatest animated movie of all time in my opinion. While I'm certainly one to critizice Hollywood's lack of originality, this looks dope. Glad they brought back Darth Vader to play Mufasa. Will they remake all the original songs?

Gonna merge this @Dragonlordxxxxx ?

I hadn't seen this new trailer yet, thanks for the link. The teaser released a few months ago gave me goosebumps, will definitely see this, and probably one of my most anticipated films of the year for me

The wife is already making plans to take my two year old grandson..... No way I'll be able to worm my way out of it.

I feel sorry for not your nephew but kinds in general

I got to grow up on the original Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladin

kids these days have to grow up with the heartless remakes of those movies

I feel sorry for them

Thats why I have collected and held on to many of my old Disney VHS films

If my kids wanna see some good shit I got it for em

But I don't take my kids to see this shit

I guess stripping a classic of all imagination & personality = nostalgia to some people???

I wonder if they'll do dual duties for Simba's voice again
it was Jonathan Taylor Thomas for his speaking part, and Jason Weaver (older bro from Smart Guy) for the singing parts

They traded a cartoon for cgi.

Bah, its just another animation and one ive already seen.

If it was Little Mermaid, id be all over it.

I liked the trailer. I'll add this to my movie list for the few select movies I'll see this year.

more biased anti-hyena propaganda. Do not support lion supremacist lies.

And here lies the problem

Nothing needs to be changed so they don't change it.. WHY make the movie?

Is there only 1 reason to make this movie?

Well something has clearly changed which I don't think needs to be pointed out. Honestly though I think might make the movie worse. Will see though.

For the best generation of kids that grew up spoiled by Pixar animation and mind blowing CGI that aren't impressed by classic animation enough to appreciate a great story. I get it, and I'll watch it. It's brilliant timing in the sense that it's amines directly at the original audience that grew up on the Lion King and now have children, disposable income, and nostalgia. Even if it's a word for word remake of the original, it'll still be a great movie, especially with the realism factor. Sure it may lack the charm it had 25 years ago, but new generations will be exposed to it, and likely seek out the original. Hell, I'll probably see Aladdin too
