Personally I went with Godfather because I find it a lot easier to re-watch. Jaws definitely had a bigger impact on me the first time I saw it scared the crap out of me. But each time this lessened the more I saw the shark and after a while it almost looks silly to me with how effects and cgi have developed.

the godfather is a long drawn out saga,and when taken in that context, there isn't really anything to touch it. jaws,while having iffy special effects by todays standards,is a creature feature like no other,and is a film,whenever I'm channel surfing and catch it,will always watch till the end.

I found Jaws to be the more satisfying film to watch,if i think about it right this second. Both movies are all time classics though.

I feel they're overrated shit, always have always will.

Same for "apocalypse now" and that fucking shit Dracula turd Coppalla turned out.

Jaws has terrorized generations of people. Taking away the simple pleasure of a bath. It's a pop culture icon but The Godfather has a much better story.

Jaws for me. Godfather was a great film, but it's a film I don't think I could ever watch again, two viewings is enough for me. While Jaws I can watch over and over and still love it.

They are 2 of the best films of all time not just the 70s.

Jaws is the original Blockbuster and the reason studios spend Billions on summer franchises and the Godfather is what you strive for in storytelling and character development.

I think a better comparison is Jaws vs Star Wars tbh.

i like jaws but for this poll, it's the godfather for me...it was more than just a movie about the mafia. there were many layers to the story itself...the relationship between sonny, fredo, and michael; the relationship between vito and michael; revenge; trust, etc.
