The Game Awards 2024 **Thursday

It's just been a very poor year for gaming overall

I'm surprised Stellar Blade is not on there
Poor year for the big AAA titles but plenty of fun indies, jrpgs, and other smaller budget stuff. Actually preferred 2024 to 2023. 2025 will be better than both though

I don't have excitement for any of those titles...

No Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth either...

Who's obsessed?

Don't like jokes?

All youve done for the majority of the last year was rail against DEI. So the allure of spontaneity that jokes require is missing.

Try this one:
Sherdog moderation team couldnt moderate Stellar Blade into a GOTY nomination like they did its thread.

The academy award nominees will be announced in January.

Try this one: Yellows for repeat passive-aggression and Staff callout for what doesn't meet your on-board agenda. Derail more and find out.

Getting mixed signals here. Your goading a response yet threatening action if i do. I need to formally request clarification on whats the appropriate speech moving forward.

Guys!
One of the biggest games of the year is on sale!
Right on time for the Game Awards!
WB games must have made hundreds of millions off it to now offer such a deep discount!

So what do you all think is going to show up this Thursday? We're just 48 hours away from the time of this post.

Here's some of my predictions

Tekken 8 - Anna will be revealed and maybe Tifa? It just seems weird that they chose to say it will be revealed at the TGA. Anna would be a bit underwhelming if that's the case so I think we see two cahracters.
SF6 - Mai gameplay trailer
Death Stranding 2 trailer with release window
First Berserker Khazan release date - they been teasing early 2025 for a long time now so they've got to have a date down
New trailer for Crimson Desert
The new Doom will finally show up again and it will also get a release window if not a release date
Judas trailer
Ghost of Yotei gameplay trailer reveal and it will say Summer 2025
Capcom shows up with Resident Evil 9 or Pragmata (I've been predicting Pragmata every major showcase lol and always wrong)

These last two predictions are a bit more bold.

I think we see a Final Fantasy IX remake finally revealed here. If not that then a Tactics remake. Either way, something Final Fantasy is going to show up. Square Enix has been unusually quiet lately. Rebirth has been out for almost a year already so it's about time they show us a new big project. As far as I remember, all we know from them is that next year they will release the next couple of Dragon Quest remasters.

I also think Sony will drop one more trailer besides Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei. I think we could finally get a closer look at Wolverine or something that Bluepoint is working on.

Witcher 4 trailer incoming?

Aren't CDPR working on a remake of the first Witcher game? Would love to see a teaser for that. It was amazing for it's first big game. I enjoyed it far more than The Witcher 2 and a remake to iron out all the rough edges of its first try and introducing it to a console audience would be so great.

I would love this. I only played Witcher 2 and loved it but Witcher 3 was very disappointing for me.

What was disappointing about Witcher 3? Witcher 2 is the worst of the 3 games imo. The story was great but Witcher 2 has some of the most unenjoyable combat I've ever played.

I loved the story in Witcher 2 I just thought it was so well done. The combat in both games hasn't been all that great to me. Serviceable in both but the story is what I'm really there for.

Witcher 3 I just expected it to focus more on Siri, Geralt, and the Wild hunt. I didn't expect so much of the game (20 hours is as far as I got) to be focused on me simply trying to find Ciri and being forced into doing what I felt were basically just side quest. I pretty much just rushed through the main story as fast as I could to try and get to the good stuff and it never happened.

I couldn't care less about some random Baron and his family. I don't want to spend time searching for all the women that bard slept with just to find him. That was another thing. I went from looking for Ciri, to now looking for the bard, who can then help me look for Ciri. It was to much and the story never felt like it was really advancing or going anywhere. I think I actually stopped when I did find Ciri and if I remember correctly the next plot point seemed boring and I just stopped.

So many people love it though that I do plan on trying it again and approaching with a much more relaxed mindset and just enjoying the world/setting instead of trying to rush through it. It's free on PS+ right now. Witcher 2 was just so much better at the pacing when it came to the main quest and keeping you invested in the story. It felt like every main quest line in Witcher 2 ended with an oh shit moment.
