Joining the military and then getting discharged early seems to be common with these guys. This one guy i worked with joined the army and before he left for basic would tell everyone at work he was going for different aspects, be it special forces, intelligence, etc. I think he lasted about 6 weeks. Told everyone he got discharged because he had an old injury the army discovered later. Later at a different place of employment he would tell people how he had top clearance in the army and a 'license to kill.' I didn't want to put him on blast because he referred me for the job and i appreciated it. He told some crazy stories and once he left that job i just didn't see him. Pathological lying is too much.
Another guy i worked with was in his forties and just a full on bullshitter. He always claimed to have a second job or hobby, and that job or hobby would always coincide with whatever was popular on reality television. Chef, motorcycle mechanic, business consultant, website builder, hot rods, bands, etc. It was just painful. He would tell these stories and our department wouldn't even ask him about it. We'd just sit there in awkward silence.
