The 2022 Heavies' Awards - Poster of the Year
(The FrankieNYC Award)
Nominations

***********************

Merry Christmas, Sherdog!
Hope you're all having a wonderful time this holiday season.

It's time for our annual Heavies' Poster of The Year (FrankieNYC award) nominations.

I'm your host this year, giovanni_ss

Been hell of a ride, boys! 2022 has given us plenty of memorable moments in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. We've witnessed unbelievable upsets, historic performances, exciting finishes, and several controversial events and happenings this year. Many of our all time favorite fighters have hung up their gloves, but the Just Bleed gods sent us a lot of new, young, and promising stars to keep the torch burning.

We've had a lot of sharing, laughs, and discussions in the Heavies all year. And we've all grieved and got our hearts broken late in June when we lost our beloved sherbro, @bigwaverider. The Shoop GOAT and 2 time Poster of The Year winner. But through the highs and lowest of lows, it brought us together and proved that though we all have differences, we can still show respect and have each other's backs during one of the darkest periods of the site.

We're still here. We made it through another year and it's because of you, my fellow sherbros, why Sherdog remains the #1 online Mixed Martial Arts forum in the world!

On behalf of the Sherdog community, we want to take this time
to say we appreciate all of you.

With that being said, we now open this year's nominations for the:
The FrankieNYC Award (2022 Heavies' Poster of the Year)

- This prestigious award goes to the poster who represents the best aspects of the Heavies: Substantial contribution, insightful posts, solid judgment, loyalty, wit, humor, intellect, helpfulness, and having a positive presence and demeanor in the forums for the whole year.

Why is it named FrankieNYC award?:

"Moving forward, the Heavies' Poster of the Year award will be known as the FrankieNYC award. @FrankieNYC is a former Poster of the Year finalist. He passed away from unknown health complications in 2019. He left behind a legacy of radiant positivity, friendship and a hunger for deep and meaningful conversations about the sport of mixed martial arts. He set an impossibly high bar during his time on this website, and he represents everything this award stands for. I hope that this small gesture can serve as a way to inspire other posters to do the same, and in some small way carry on the spirit and excellence of Frankie" - Zebra Cheeks (2020)"

Alright, before we proceed...

*IMPORTANT* PLEASE READ: A word from the Sherdog Admins/Staff

- The nominees have to have been around for at least the majority of this year (minimum of 9 months) and have spent mainly of their time in The Heavies' more than any sub forum.

- Posters that have received Double Yellows in 2022 will NOT be eligible for the contest. Single yellow (2 pts), we can manage, but dubs knocks them out of the running. It goes without saying that banned posters will not be eligible either.

***********************

RULES & HOW THE NOMINATION WORKS:

1. Mods, Admins, and Sherdog.com staff are NOT included in the contest. You have to nominate only the Standard and Plat users.

2. Submit your nominations by simply tagging your nominees in this thread. NOTE: You are NOT allowed to nominate yourself.

3. We're gonna let everybody get the chance to post their nominations, and we'll keep this thread open for a few days before it gets locked.

4. The 20 names that gets the most tags/mentions will then move on to the Semifinal round where we will establish an elimination poll.

5. The 10 posters with the most votes in the semis will move on to the Final round where we also establish a voting poll. The poster with the most votes in the Finals will be the recipient of this year's FrankieNYC award and your 2022 Heavies Poster of The Year.

Now, let the nominations begin!

My top 10 for this year..

@Kryptt - has been doing god's work in tagging people on pbps all year, especially the non ufc pbps to give us something to watch. A tireless positive force and a great help to the site in promoting community engagement. Excellent all around poster, shooper, and a rocksolid presence in the heavies.

@KazDibiase - Like what he's done in the last 6+ years, Kaz has brought massive contributions in posting real time fight night GIFs & threads and has also been very active in posting lots of latest mma news and updates all year. His efforts are always greatly appreciated.

@Safton - Two words: quality poster. Safton is one of the best straight-up-no-BS poster who is all about just discussing the sport of MMA. He has passion, and always gives well thought, insightful, and quality posts, opinions, and takes. Top notch posting and he definitely earns a spot this year imo.

@Dude Incredible - Has made tremendous contributions and efforts in the sportsbook section all year and drew a lot of posters to hang out in that sub forum. A great guy and very helpful poster who is also a fun presence in the pbps. He's shown his support in the shoop scene as well by contributing shoops. Way to live up to his username coz this dude is truly incredible.

@Siver! - a very consistent and thoughtful poster. Has interesting takes, intelligent posts, and effort in making threads like his 'fights to make after UFC ___' threads, etc. Participates in other fun activities as well like joining shoop contests and pbps. One of the most active mainstays and a good rep of the heavies.

@Arqueto - has taken over as the main man of the shoop community since the passing of the great BWR. Outstanding dedication and efforts in organizing shoop contests, avatar threads, and anything shoop related stuff. A very nice (dog) person and fried chicken lover. Very helpful and always chill. If ever you had a single interaction with Arq, you'll instantly become friends I guarantee.

@Doughie99 - a lowkey and laid back poster, but easily one of the best all around posters and contributors behind the scenes. He's a smart guy, funny, and always have a good opinion on anything. Likes to hang out on pbps, a mainstay in the sportsbook section who's always willing to assist people, and a member of the AV crew that has made dozens of holiday avatars/shoops all year. A guy who truly means well to the site.

@Question - a really good poster and a friendly face in the boards. Always polite and gives level headed takes on mma discussions all year. Just a really nice guy with a humble demeanor and presence. Has shown his support to community activities as well. Also one of the guys who does a good job putting a 'lil extra' in making threads where he puts his own style and present them in a unique and neat manner.

@BoxerMaurits - one of the most amusing surprises this year. Maurits aka UberTS 2.0 absolutely takes pride being a sherbro. A fun loving gentle giant who loves to share photos and vids of his live experiences in Combat sports events, and puts time and effort in making his threads to entertain us all. Very enthusiastic in other sub forums as well such as KB/MT and has love for the site as a whole. An awesome guy with a fun presence overall.

@Y2Khaos - for all his archive worthy compilation threads. If you haven't seen them, you'll be amazed with the amount of work, gifs, and effort he's done to present them. They're really worthwhile to read. He does a fantastic job giving information about monumental events that might have been lost to history. His username probably isn't that familiar and as loud as the others, but his works speaks volumes and they are noticed. An OG who's been here for over a decade, he's an epitome of a true loyal sherdogger.

*** I nominated guys who are not in the POTY semis/finals last year or haven't been officially nominated yet in the past. Sure, those names from last year's contest are still worth the mention and I'm sure some of them will make the cut again this year, but with the exception of Kryptt and Kaz (finalists last year; who imo are the top 2 contributors in the heavies), I hope these 8 guys get the recognition they deserve this year. I believe it's their turn now. Good luck, boys!
