"I think we present Chimaev the biggest challenge at this moment. Here's the thing, they're stuck in a cage, right? Your principle should be all surrounding that.
So conditioning has to be number one, your grappling orientation and understanding of grappling has to be the first technical thing. If you go into a cage to fight
and your cardio isn't on par or your grappling isn't on par, it's not looking good for you.
And especially if you're going in there to fight a guy like Chimaev, where you know that it's going to be that type of fight. But you also know that if you put someone,
like Chimaev, in a position where he has to scramble a lot... His conditioning is good when he's on top. When he's never forced to scramble and work himself up,
down, up, down, up, down. Those principles and understanding of what you're doing is a must or you're going in to the fight handicapped in the positions you
need to be best in."
So how do you look at that fight stylistically for Anthony?
"The one thing I can tell you is we're not gonna be on the back-foot. It's not gonna happen. Chimaev doesn't get to dictate what's happening. We understand that
he's probably gonna shoot but then we will too. So we're gonna meet in the middle like DDP. And see who can outfinagle and outscramble who in that position.
And who has the better conditioning and awareness in those spots.
Of course it's easy when you're on top all the time and people concede the takedown. I don't wanna say that DDP conceded the takedown, but in theory he kinda
did because he didn't know how to get up, right? He didn't really know how to get up and just tried to muscle his way out of things. Well, that's not gonna work.
So our gameplan will be all for Anthony Hernandez, like, we don't change who we are. We're gonna go out and do what's best, and shove it down your throat.
You're gonna be forced to stop us. We know Chimaev is gonna do the same thing... we'll see what happens."
