Khamzat trains with the trainer of the Saitiev bros…literally best level in the world. Khamzat‘s wrestling is the best in the UFC currently by far.

However, wrestling alone doesn‘t win fights and Khamzat‘s threat in R1 is a bit exagerated here. Obviously, Fluffy‘s wrestling is leagues below Khamzat but I think it‘s good enough to tire Khamzat over a 5R. Plus Fluffy has very decent boxing fundamentals, is a very smart fighter and has weapon cardio.

The game plan of trying to weather the storm still sounds fine, but you actually have to make Chimaev fight for the takedowns and use his energy.

Against DDP he got an easy takedown early in every round and just held him down. He is obviously not gonna get tired from that.

After round 1 Khamzat is going to be gassed and basically be too exhausted like a grappling dummy. Just like with DDP!

The thing is Fluffy does dictate where the fight goes in all of his fights. He goes forward, puts on pressure, takes guys down etc etc and just keeps grinding them.

Chimaev is also the same type of fighter, he controlls where the fight goes hence it will be clash of similarish fighting style hence both are aggressive as fuk and try to impose their game from the get go.

I think Fluffy´s team should know better that they won´t be able to enforce their game and dictate where the fight goes as Khamzat is the far superior wrestler here which means Chimaev will dictate where the fight goes and we haven´t seen Fluffy in that situation as he is use to being the bully and hammer in all of his fights

Historically this means the fight ends up a boring bad kickboxing fight... you know this right?

Anything is possible, but they had very different results on the Holland test.

Makes sense. All he needs to do potentially is not get finished early or be bad enough to get blanketed for five rounds without putting up resistance. Even if he gets controlled completely for the 1st round, if he can start putting up resistance and creating more and more scrambles in the subsequent rounds it's going to start snowballing in his favour.

I think DDP just assumed he was going to get Khamzat to gas out and then take over, which didn't happen at all.

DDP rocked that backpack-Khamzat harder than Dora the Explorer.

DDP just accepted and stayed there making Khaz expend little to no energy.

Fluffy makes him work for it more. Likely doesnt win but better fight - Fluffy just isn't strong enough.

The issue with DDP is he couldn't defend the takedowns at all or get back to his feet. Khamzat isn't gonna get tired if he gets super easy takedowns and stays on top the whole time. If Fluffy can make Khamzat work for the takedowns and force scrambles, maybe Khamzat will get tired. It's a pretty big if but hey, Khamzat is undefeated for a reason.

Viera is a pure BJJ guy though. He lost because he gave up position to hunt for a sub.

That fight still showed that a competent grappler could take down and control Hernandez with relative ease.

The difference with Chimaev is that he will maintain control every round instead of trying to jump for submissions.

Well if you've watched his last two fights its safe to say he'd smoke RDR based off the fight with Allen. I dont think he had a choice and was injured
