Now that we can openly talk spoilers, did anyone else thought that Ultraman looked like a young Brendan Fraser??

As someone who enjoyed Man of Steel and didn't understand the hate at the time, I now realize why people didn't like it. This is the Superman they wanted to see. I still like MoS but I can see why people gravitate toward this version more. Most people in the theater walked out feeling good which is kind of rare these days. It's not a perfect movie (kind of dragged in the first half) but it's a great step for DC. Gunn knows what he's doing.

And how is Nathan Fillion in the movie for less time than Mr Terrific? Is Mr Terriffic that popular? I dunno, is he?

I thought that if the character was not tied up in his planned solo movie or if the Justice League was formed at this point of the story, Mister Terrific was a stand-in for Batman. Everything Mister Terrific did, Batman could have done. Bats could have used his detective skills to find out where Supes was being detained. I could easily visualize Batman doing the cool, beatdown action sequence at the beach. Bats would try to shutdown the pocket dimension and give Lois the Batplane or Batjet to use.

Guy Gardner is more popular than Mister Terrific. But in the context of the film, it makes more sense for Mister Terrific to have more screen time because he's the only one who assisted Lois in trying to find Supes. And he's the only one in the Justice Gang capable of understanding the nature of the pocket universe and stopping it.

I'm also glad it worked out this way because Mister Terrific is a cool character and he got a chance to shine. Many loved his scenes with some saying he stole the show.

But don't fret, Guy Gardner will appear very soon in the HBO series Lanterns.

That's how I felt also leaving the theater. I was grinning inside throughout the whole movie. It made me feel good and hopeful, and wanting to be kinder. I've read some normal people's comments on social media and many of them also share the sentiment to different varying degrees.

I also like Man of Steel and I can appreciate the fact that there are different versions of the same character but told with a different story, tone and characterization. Same with what's happening with Spider-Man now. We have three different versions played by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland. Fans will have their own preference which version they liked more.

Superman earned $57.2 million on its second weekend in the US for a 54% drop from the first weekend. The film has a US total of $235 million for a $406.8 million globally.

I haven't followed box office numbers post-pandemic, but that number's decent compared to comic book movies of the 2010s which tended to average about -58% weekend-over-weekend.

Yeah, he was definitely Bizzaro. I kept waiting for him to say “me am Superman” but I guess that was a bridge too far.

How did Lex clone him again? I can’t remember, I also can’t remember the reason he couldn’t have more clones.

One thing that bugged me was saying Superman can only hold his breath for an hour. He can travel at the speed of light. TBH I don’t think he even really needs to breathe. I think he just does it for fun like with eating. And pooping?

Lex said he would go comb through the areas Superman fought in and found his hair. As for the reason he didn't make more, I'm guessing fear. He was lucky enough that Ultraman obeyed him cause he didn't have to. In fact you saw how things shifted once the clone was gone. He was the only upper hand Lex had.

Preface by saying Synder / Henry Superman is by far my favorite adaptation and I'm forever bitter their vision with the Injustice and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War adaptation won't be happening. That said, Superfriends was a pretty good comic book movie. Gunn really has a knack for simple colorful comic book story telling. It appeals to a wider audience; it's innocuous and it's visually dynamic.

Just hate that it's cookie cutter story telling; the weakest version of Superman yet, ruined Bizzaro Superman, and his earth parents were so backwoods; but again that's my preference for the Darker Man of Steel plot lines.

This is how I feel about it. I’m not a DC fan to begin with and it has a lot goof in it. The casting choices were bad. Nathan Fillon and Nicholas Holt should have been switched. The jokes didn’t work because you don’t have believable characters that are already fleshed out. Maybe 4 or 5 movies into the DCU it won’t be a problem.

Yeah, it was just very bubble gum which is seems a lot of people are good with so I'm happy people got a version they liked. It was just too soft for me. I get that is a akin to some early comic version of the character but there's also darker version. A lot of the Synder version was direct from source material.

Will say Gunn's inoffensive goofy style appeals to a wider audience; it's just the weakest version of the character

That is what I think also. Ultraman is the future Bizarro. And this time, they'll cast the real Brendan Fraser as Bizarro.

I'd like to think that Ultraman was their only semi-successful attempt at cloning Supes while the rest were failures.

Yeah, that was a mistake, but they had to give Supes some peril.
