First, why would I show a person who displays a flag of traitors and slaves respect?
I don't know. Why should you show anyone who disagrees with you any respect?

well, I guess if you believe mass murder is the worst, worse than killing lots of people in other ways, then ok you have the right to that opinion.
Kind of hard to argue. One was a shorter term horrific historical episode. The other was a longer term horrific historical episode.well, I guess if you believe mass murder is the worst, worse than killing lots of people in other ways, then ok you have the right to that opinion.
The confederate flag however, has much wider connotations. Despite the wishes and ardent efforts of some people to make it just about slavery.
I can disagree someone and still respect them, and often do. I don't show respect to people that hold deplorable views and don't think there's any reason why I should.I don't know. Why should you show anyone who disagrees with you any respect?
Among a very small part of the population. Moreover, I'd bet a lot of money that the part of the population that does ascribe other meanings to the flag also is predominantly racist to boot. The confederate flag however, has much wider connotations. If I understand this correctly, why did the south accept other policies forced upon them but decided this one specific policy was worth fighting awar over?
Hay guise, when I fly the Nazi flag, it totally represents German pride. Yeah Germany!
Amidoinitrite?
I.e. owning slaves.Logical fallacy. If people accept something, it is not forced upon them. The south defended its right to say no, and their right not to need permission from a federal government. I believe the core argument was that anyone has the right to declare independence if their government has become destructive to one's welfare. The same justification was used for the American Revolutionary War.
Not today it isn't. Today the confederate flag is about freedom. Racist accusations is a strawman argument.

What does this even mean? The Nazis had all sorts of ways of killing people. Luckily that genocidal mentality wasn't amongst the Confederacy.
But the National Socialist German Worker's Party advocated heavy German nationalism! Like, so much that they fought a war for a large and strong German empire.
You just dont get it.
