Weights today again. This week I'm keeping the extra sessions out so I can focus on strength. Next week add in conditioning, scale back strength. Next week switch it up again and so forth for a bit. I am about to get really strong and want to take advantage of it, definitley in the midst of killing any plataeu I had.

DB Shoulder Press- 70x6,5,4 50x14
Jerk- 225x5 205x5
Leg Press- 840x8 640x15
Hammer Curl- 50x3x5
Calf- 200x2x5
Abcore- 90x6 45x2x10

I'll do some heavy bag work/conditioning tomorrow (Tues), sparring/conditioning Wed, Sparring Thurs, then Weights again on Fri. Then its back to a week or so of 2 a days.
 
I got to the gym and said "fuck conditioning, I'll do that BS later" lol.
So I'm sticking with getting strong as hell this week, next week I'll replace my extra lift days with conditioning workouts, I promise.

Decline Bench- 225x13,10,10,8
Single Leg Curl- 110x8,6,6
Tri Pushdown- 120x3 100x10

That's it, was short on time and did what I could to my sore as hell but getting stronger body.
 
MMA sparring today, 6 oz gloves, headgear, cloth shin/knee pads. NJ amateur rules to get Joe ready for his fight on June 6th. He went for a heel hook and I yelled at him "NO!!! YOUR'E NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT!!!!!" lol.

Did well, shot a lot and usually got the takedown into sidemount. Need to do more of this b/c its fun as hell and specific to what we need. We always spar specific rulesets but I think now its time to do more MMA sparring.

Got stuck in a few guillotine attempts from the shot but just threw the arm over the top and tripped backwards into side control.

Good stuff, tomorrow is more MMA sparring, then Friday is BIG WEIGHTS DAY!!!
 
Thursday night:

MMA sparring again, this time at KTFO with my brother Joe and Craig, both getting ready fo fights. Joe fights ammy June 6th, Craig Pro on June 5th, both in NJ so I get 2 nights of relaxing and drinking lol.

Did 2 5 min rounds with Craig until he busted a ligament in his thumb abd had to take a break to be safe.
Then 3x3 with Joe under ammy rules.

Striking felt good, did well holding a plum clinch, then transition to half plum, push off, and follow in with a 1-2 combo. Also I seem to do well driving my partner into the cage, but I lack takedowns off the cage. Oddly, I seem to get takedowns more often from a shot that dosen't hit the cage. Weird.
I have been shooting a lot though, which is good, I never shoot and now I am doing it a lot better and finishing more often.

Cardio is getting better, but still my weakpoint. I'm back conditioning next week where as this week was all about strength (which is through the roof).

Need to find a few more partners to come trade with us on Wed/Thurs nights, just b/c variety is good. These guys keep me on my toes and work me good, bully me around, which is awesome.

Everything improved. Front Squat more so as I am now flexible enough to hold the bar correctly the whole time. I'll be hitting 315 soon hopefully, going to be sticking to higher reps (8-10) and increasing the weight 10lbs a session for now though.

Shoulder Press, can't wait to hit the 80's!! But I'll go to 70's again next and get my reps up.

Pullup- Awesome, 70 for 8 is great. And it rhymes.

Off to eat a bunch, take my supps, recover (contrast shower fuck me) and back to the gym to put in work on BoxFit and our MMA program.
 
Decided to hit decline and power shrugs while working:

Decline Bench- 245x12,8,7
Power Shrugs- 555x10

Nice thing now is that I put the pins on the power cage at the lowest setting when I power shrug which is the same setting I use to do my rack lockouts (just below the knees).
So now everytime I power shrug I am also hitting a lockout, and coincidently I locked out 555 today, good.

Wed Night:
Did a bunch of sparring all night, endless rounds of boxing or MMA with 16ozers on. Jab flew out well, punches extended, used level change to set up punches, tried to strike off of clinch, need to work on everything still though.
Then some abs circuit took like 10 minutes or so, good stuff. Too lazy to take more notes on the session.

Boxing and MMA sparring and stuff.
Scheduled a kickboxing fight for June 13th here on LI, first time doing anything besides MMA, should be awesome. Ammy Thai rules.

New PR in Front Squat, Dead Lockout. Huge rep jump for 90lb pullup. Awesome stuuf, off to bed then work all day.
 
Haven't been posting, mainly b/c I stopped posting any logs as I didn't need my opponent reading my current training and all.
Fought last night, first kickboxing match, K-1 rules. Won a 3 round decision. Happy of course and I have a new respect for the sport, holy crap is that brutal!!

My opp was 3-0 in kickboxing and a bit taller, we fought at 180. He did awesome bringing it to me and was all class unlike a few other fighters that night. Def a tough guy who I am glad I did not take lightly at all.
Happy to say I let it all fly out there though I never threw any knees, I was a bit nervous as it is new territory for me but it went well. I feel I kickboxed more than I brawled, and the next fights should only get better as I get comfortable with it.
Tried to use my whole arsenal.

Things to work on: conditioning should have been better. Hands dropped, due to tired in the 3rd round. Brawled a bit sometimes though I feel I mainly boxed poperly, that should clear up on its own with experience.

Looking to do a boxing match Aug 8th and possibly another kickboxing show Aug 22nd. Back in the gym tonight as I am not too beat up. Ribs hurt a bit, muscle soreness, neck stiff a bit, etc, good thing I got a gift certificate for a sports massage on my bday (6/1)!
 
Rolled gi tonight, first time in a while. Things didn't flow right immediately but the rust wore off a bit during guard passing and rounds from the knees.
Then did some padwork in the Thai class.

Schedule looks like this for now: Mon- BJJ gi AM; BJJ Gi PM; Thai/Sparring PM
Tues- lift AM Wed- condition AM; Box/condition PM Thurs- No gi AM/PM
Fri- off Sat BJJ gi AM Sun- watever
Plus I'll throw in another lift session and some other crap when I can, aiming for 2x a day again like in the past.

V Grip Tri Pushdown- 100x10

Kept intensity low by only doing 2 sets or lower weight and leaving some reps in the tank so to speak as I didn't want to tweak anything, just in case.
