Media Stipe: Ill do what I want against Jones

Will be a shit fight and you know it Stipe. Payday.

Stipe is pretty old. I'm not convinced he's going to be physically strong enough to hold Jones back.

Jon actually has pretty suspect striking when he doesn't have a size/reach advantage over his opponents. Especially if the referees don't let him get away with eye pokes, I could easily see Stipe winning a striking match with Jones. But Jon will probably just take him down and beat him up. If Stipe is too old/weak to stop the takedowns, I don't see how he can win this fight.

Miocic: "IQ and planning be damned. I'm gonna fight my fight."
Jones: "Thanks. I've watched all the tape and I've prepared for exactly that."

Unfortunately Stipe gets stopped in the first

Stipe's weakness is usually ko punchers. Something Jones is not. I still kinda favor Jones but a first-round stoppage seems unlikely by any of them. If anyone's getting a first-round stoppage, it's likely Stipe.

Strength and power, as they say, is the last thing to go. And ever since the loss to Ngannou, Stipe's been doing a lot of weight training and putting on mass and muscle. There's a lot of open questions about Stipe's state and you could be worried for many things, but I assure you — strength isn't one of them. It's entirely possible that he's the strongest he's ever been.

If that's true then this could be a difficult fight for Jones. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Can’t think of anyone with a better record.

Beaten ;

Jds
Werdum
DC
Francis
Overeem
all them washed past their prime
beaten green francis but got his shit pushed in by prime francis

also lost to dc and jds, so stipe is in the same league but not better

It seems to me Stipe is consistently underrated and under appreciated. People gave him little chance against DC, little chance against Francis in either fight, and he always brings it. Granted he is older, but so is Jon. Stipe should be able to keep this fight standing and from that point it will be an interesting scrap. Can't wait.

Stipe has an unbelievable record, probably the goat however he has been out too long.

Jones gets this done handily.

I don't think the inactivity here favors Jon much. Go back to the start of 2020 to Nov 15th 2024, it's nearly a full 5 years.

Jon fought 5 rounds in March 2020, Stipe fought 2 rounds in 2021. Since then Jon has one fight that lasted 2mins almost two years ago. It's not like Jon has been active every year fighting.

Honestly I got fight as 50/50 10p$ putting g money on Stipe at the current odds

Is it just Jones' hate that pushes the Stipe corpse/age agenda?

Stipe just turned 42 in August.

Jones turned 37 in July.

This isn't a 34 y/o Jones versus 49 year old Stipe on a 7 fight losing streak.
Stipe has taken a whole hell of a lot more damage of the career shortening type than Jones ever has. In terms of octagon age, it really is something like 34 year old Jones v. 49 year old Stipe.

Stipes corpse maintained it will "do whatever he wants" in the Jones fight. Doesn't seem too likely but at least he's confident in himself even if nobody else is. Anyone at all picking Stipe? I see this as easy money for Jones and essentially a cop out of a fight.
Stipe is rightfully a big underdog but if I had to make the case for him I'd say the long lay off after a KO might be good for Stipe's durability and Jones has never hand one punch KO power like Ngannou or DC at HW. Also Stipe can push the pace and wrestle so he might be able to pull off a Gustaffson or Reyes like performance against Jones.

Would be so satisfying if after all this Stipe KOs Jones.

Stipe is being hugely underestimated and it will line my pockets with gold.

Pillowfisted Jon is going to meet true HW power, boxing and TDD.
If that doesn't happen, will you eat crow or will you move goalposts and delete posts like this?

Serious question.
