I'll laugh when you come back and agree that TLJ > TFA.
There's a good chance I will never see TLJ. I can't think of a good reason to.

Jedi and Sith absolutely suck at catching people.
How many scenes throughout the series have we seen where one comes super close to the capture, only to end up standing there watching their quarry escape?
Also, as good as Poe is as a pilot, there is no doubt he is Force sensitive.

I remember thinking The Doctor was much better. I thought Regarding Henry was incredibly sappy; The Doctor was a lot more realistic, and hit a lot closer to home.
Because you've seen every other Star Wars movie and, if nothing else, you're curious about how this one turned out.
having rewatched the prequels yesterday, I find them all better than TLJ.
If I lived in a vacuum this would have definitely worked, and it's how I felt leading up to TLJ, but hearing all of the horrible reviews from people I trust - from e-buds to Mark Hamill himself - tells me all I need to know. Plus, again, I hated TFA so fuck all those characters anyway.
Never seen't it. I'll have to check it out.
Regarding Henry gives me feels. It's definitely sappy, but there are some powerful scenes, and prime Harrison Ford in full oozing humanity mode really sells it.
The scene near the beginning with him & a young unknown John Leguizamo always gives me chills

So after nine movies you are just going to hop off the Star Wars train and you're going to do it because of some stuff you HEARD about a movie, instead of watching the film and assessing it for yourself?
Prequels are definitely underrated and the more I think about it the more I kind of wish Lucas was still in control.
Still in control but actually making movies, that is. That's the problem, after Ep 3 he didn't make anymore movies. He funneled all his attention into the animated shows.
Don't say 'after nine movies' like it's all really tied together in some grand vision. The original trilogy kinda stands on its own as one thing, & everything after is trying to glom onto it. I thought the prequel trilogy was about 87% worthless, and the first one of this new trilogy was pretty soulless & shitty.
So it's not like I'm leaving the franchise feeling dissatisfied, I mean I got over that back when the prequels sucked. I'm fine loving the original trilogy for what it is, and will revisit that from time to time, I don't need to suck down every shitty offering they put out just to try and separate me from my money. TFA was crap, and everyone who agrees with that is saying this one is just as bad or worse. Fool me once kinda thing. How many times am I supposed to be a sucker for this shit.
I can give you one good reason:
So you can post hilarious comments and insights into it on this forum for entertainment.
okay, you should've gotten off long ago.
I feel like Lucas’ vision and ideas coupled with handing the reigns over to a different director/screenwriter who is more actor and character sensitive would have been ideal.
Then again Spielberg did say Lucas came up with the idea for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull...
I really wanted the Coen Brothers to do a Star Wars trilogy.
I'm not even joking.
That's what she said.
Now such "excesses" look more like quirks or arabesque hints of a man ahead of his time. Intimations of personality and creativity perhaps less detectable in the new crop of movies from a big corporation that have suddenly been met (for the most part) with roaring acclaim. But hey, hang on, this grey-haired, bearded, round-spectacled, flannel-shirt-loving fellow... maybe his movies are actually a touch artistic??!!
People are kind of allowing themselves to enjoy the prequels and explore or release a latent fondness for them; and letting formerly suppressed feelings float more freely to the surface. Jar Jar. Was he really so bad? Anakin. Maybe he really does have a well-defined character and background! Padme. Dignified and sadly compelling. Qui-Gon. A Jedi badass. The planets, the ships, the action scenes. Imagination station! The political storyline? OMG... There actually *is* one!
For the first time ever, I think some people are now beginning to see the prequels in all their Technicolor glory.
